Minutes ofthe meeting held on Wednesday2nd December

Approve minutes / Proposed :Roger Berl, Seconded: Julie Swan
Police Scotland / Julie Stephen to be the new Liaison Officer due to relocation of Mike Purdie.
Stuart Murray advised us of Speed checks throughout Formartine during the Christmas period.
The Community council asked for clarification on several issues of speeding.
Matters Arising /
  • Apologies to anyone who missed the start of the Firework display, due to fireworks being lit earlier than advertised.
  • Application to be made for a Licence to hold firework display on the beach.
  • Sheena Junor thanked all the volunteers who made the bonfire a success and also the people who tidied the Hall after the event.
  • Roger asked that we thanked Daryl King for his help on the bar.
  • Three members represented the Community Council at the meeting on 19th November regarding future of Slains Kirk. At the meeting, no discussions took place about the future of the building, instead there is to be a further meeting in Ellon, and a group of 10 church members(five from Ellon and five from Slains) are to complete a feasibility study on the future of Slains Church.
  • Santa outfit purchased.
  • The Community Council agreed with Foveran Council opinion that only the North side of the estuary should be kept as a “haul out” point for Seals

Village Events /
  • Christmas Dinner for the Senior Citizens is to take place in the Newburgh Golf Club on Saturday 5th December.
  • Mick Sheehan announced that this would be his last year as “Master of Ceremonies”
  • 19thDecember: Carols round the Christmas tree at 6.30pm followed by party organised by the World Challenge Students. Community council volunteered to pay for selection boxes, mince pies etc.
  • Hogmanay family party: Tickets for sale £3.00(Adult) 7.00-12.30am All ages welcome.
  • Burns Supper 23rd January. Tickets £10.00 to go on sale in January.
