About Good Sports:

Good Sports is a nonprofit organization that provides sports equipment, footwear, and apparel to ensure disadvantaged youth have the opportunity to be active. Founded in 2003 with a donation of 500 basketballs, Good Sports has grown into a national organization that has donated over $10 million worth of equipment to give over 900,000 kids a chance to play.

About Good Sports Chicago:

Over the past few years, Good Sports work in Chicago has grown steadily. To date, we have impacted 58,000 kids in need with $700,000 worth of equipment and serve on average 15,000 children annually. However, there is great need in the marketplace and we aim to grow our impact over the next three years until we are serving more than 35,000 kids each and every year. Good Sports has launched a Chicago Board of Advisors and hosts a successful annual event to support the Regional Director and generate resources.

About the Position:

Good Sports is a seeking a strong leader to help us achieve sustainability in the Chicago market where we raise sufficient funding from the market to support the kids we serve annually in the community. The Chicago Regional Director needs to be a strategic thinker and planner who can take the program from a solid foundation to local scale and sustainability. This will involve managing local partners, evaluating local programming, and securing the necessary funding to be successful. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, fundraising, sales, or business development experience, and a self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead growth strategy in Chicago market
  • Grow the Chicago market budget from $130,000 to over $700,000 over the next three years through a successful event as well as corporate and foundation partners
  • Evaluate program impact in market to develop strategic improvements that can be executed nationally
  • Develop relationships with schools, community-based organizations, and financial partners
  • Develop and nurture local media relationships to generate awareness and presence of Good Sports brand in Chicago marketplace
  • Cultivate relationships with local government and leadership to generate awareness and support at a local level

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for mission that play and physical activity are core to development of child
  • Strong leader with at least 7 years of experience
  • Knowledge of Chicagoland area with well-developed local network
  • Proven fundraising, sales, or business development skills
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated individual able to grasp vision, plan, and manage execution against goals
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and logistics skills
  • Ability to demonstrate Good Sports’ core values – Commitment and passion for all kids’ right to play; individual and collective mastery of our work; delivery of results with excellence and enthusiasm; integrity and accountability for ourselves and our team.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution required

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Compensation: Salary and benefits commiserate with experience and industry standards.
