Our school received an excellent OFSTED report in July 2008 (a copy is accessible on the Internet). The staff and governors are committed to further improvement and development. Our staff team is made up of 8 teachers and 8 Learning Support Assistants. It is a friendly and supportive team that works well together. All teachers are strongly encouraged to be involved in the on-going development of the school. Staff work together to review the school’s progress and write the Improvement Plan. The pupils are well motivated and self disciplined and their parents are supportive.

School Information

CapelCountyPrimary School is a non-denominational mixed school, which provides a general education for approximately 210 children from 4 – 11 years old.

The school serves the Parish of Capel, which includes Five Oak Green, Tudeley, Whetsted, Colts Hill and a number of small hamlets. Capel is a popular and over-subscribed school. The school is situated beside the B2017 road from Tonbridge to Paddock Wood, on the outskirts of Five Oak Green. The school is surrounded by farmland and looks out onto hop fields and grazing land.

The original school was built in 1875 and was extensively modernised in 1970 to provide a total of six classrooms, with a further classroom in an adjacent mobile building. The school has a spacious hall for assemblies and PE and a separate dining area, where school meals are prepared and served. There is an excellent, reference library, provided by the Parents Association, and good outdoor facilities for physical education.

The school enjoys good relationships with parents and there is an active Capel School Association. Many parents give practical help in the school. The school seeks to play its part in the life of the local community and is establishing links with the Church and local Senior Citizens.

KS2 Class Teacher

  1. To teach effectively in the classroom with skill and sensitivity using a variety of teaching strategies.
