The Minnesota School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team is pleased to announce:

The Annual PBIS Institute is seeking Breakout Session Presentation proposals from administrators, educators, institutions of higher education, parent/advocacy organizations and related service professionals sharing information on effective strategies and practice in the field of School Wide PBIS. Please note that if you are submitting more than one presentation a separate form must be completed for each presentation.

  • BREAKOUT SESSIONS: These sessions are 75 minutes in length and should focus on practical application of any topic, products or materials that promote the sound application of PBIS in education and incorporate data. Collaborative presentations are encouraged and ample time should be allowed for questions and answers.Deadline for breakout sessions is April 25, 2016. Click in the GREY shaded box to enter text.

This submission will focus on the following PBIS Topic (choose one):

PBIS in Early Childhood

Presentations in this strand will focus on implementation of PBIS in early childhood settings.

PBIS in Non-Classroom Setting

Presentations in this strand will focus on the implementation of PBIS in non-classroom settings.

PBIS in Elementary School

Presentations in this strand will focus on implementation of PBIS in the elementary setting.

PBIS in Secondary Setting or Alternative Education Settings

Presentations in this strand provide conceptual and practical information about the unique challenges and strategies used in the application of positive behavior support in middle, high or alternative settings.

PBIS Basics – for New Staff

Presentations in this strand will provide educators with a general overview of the practices, features and processes of PBIS.

Classroom Practices

Presentations in this strand focus on how the principles and strategies of PBIS are implemented within classroom settings.

Integrating PBIS within a MTSS

Presentations in this strand focus on how PBIS supports the academic success of students within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), a systems approach for preventing academic failure and promoting student success.

Tier II/Yellow Zone Interventions

Presentations in this strand will focus on Tier II and provide examples and information on interventions, outcomes, progress monitoring and systems change that can promote effective implementation of Tier II/supplemental supports.

Tier III – Individual Supports

Presentations in this strand will emphasize the use of PBIS to support individual students within a school. The focus is on one or more specific students, rather than the school system.

PBIS Data Collection and Use

Presentations in this strand will focus on effective data collection and use within the PBIS framework to assist school or district teams. Focus will be on data analysis to improve student outcomes, action planning and system change.

Navigating Staff Turnover

Presentations in this strand focus on strategies and recommendations to support continued PBIS implementation during staff and administrative changes.

PBIS Sustainability

Presentations in this strand focus on strategies that support sustainability of PBIS within the school or district setting utilizing data and current research findings.

Involving Families/Communities into PBIS

Presentations in this strand will focus on strategies and practices to involve families and/or communities in School-Wide PBIS.

PBIS Basics – for New Staff

Presentations in this strand will provide educators with a general overview of the practices, features and processes of PBIS.

School-Linked Mental Health Coordination

The presentations in this strand focus on mental health collaboration within the PBIS structure in schools.

PBIS and Equity

Presentations in this strand describe the implementation across diverse communities and populations, the use of data for equitable practice or culturally competent strategies and practices.
