  • how to get into the blogosphere to give pupils a reason for listening and speaking
  • why writing a blog post is as easy as sending an email
  • how blogging can support assessment for learning
  • how to use mobile phones and the video function of a digital camera for peer assessment
  • how to use podcasts for personalised and independent learning
  • how to download foreign language recordings to mp3 players, mobile phones or computers for students to use away from the classroom
  • how to use a class set of mp3 players as a portable digital language lab
  • how podcasting can support learning across the curriculum (times tables, storytelling)

How to book your place on an event

All bookings for events must be made online on the If you have not done so previously, you will need to register on the website in order to access the event information and booking form.Registration is free and open to all. It should not take more than a few minutes to complete.

Note: It is the individual staff member within the school that registers with the website, so you can have multiple members of staff registered from your school each with personalised logins.

To register:

  • Go to the Schools Network website:
  • Click on ‘Register’ on the right of the page
  • Enter your school or organisation name in the search field and click search

TIP: If your school cannot be found try including or excluding ‘the’ in the title.

  • Complete the short registration form and click ‘Save details’
  • An email with your registration details will be sent to the email address supplied

How to book your place online:

  • Go to:
  • Choose your region or subject from the list and search or the event.
  • Select event id and the link will take you to a login page
  • Log in with the username and password you selected when registering or if not yet registered click on the register link and follow the instructions. (See how to register above for details)
  • Choose whether to book yourself or a colleague and add in the relevant information, click save and continue to book
  • If there is a charge your school will be automatically invoiced
  • You will receive a confirmation email and booking reference if your booking has been successful

TIP: Make sure the email address entered when booking is correct. Your confirmation of booking and future event details will be sent here!

Forgotten your password?

  • Go to the login screen
  • Enter your username (this should be your email address)
  • Click the forgotten password link
  • Your password will be emailed to your email address
