Corporate Sponsor Request Letter

Dear Community Leader:

Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to our Bedichek Junior Marine Corps (BJMC). In the nearly three-year period since it was founded, the Bedichek Junior Marine Corps has proven to be a positive force in helping 6th-8th grade students prepare for the future.

Created in 2006, BJMC is designed to instill the values of citizenship, service, and personal responsibility in its cadets as well as provide them with a sense of accomplishment. The program is open to all students in the sixth through eighth grades and is designed to develop participant’s leadership skills, strengthen their character, and learn effective self-discipline. This innovative program requires cadets to pass all of their courses, demonstrate high moral standards, and adhere to a strict code of conduct. The BJMC program helps young people develop a range of admirable skills and values. When class resumed in August of 2009, Corps enrollment will be 150 students. BJMC is the only military based leadership program in Austin, at the middle school level.

BJMC is different from other military leadership programs, for example JROTC, in that, we are a small nonprofit program that does not receive any governmental or grant assistance. Our primary revenue source is Corps dues paid by families, and donations received from generous individuals and businesses like yours. These funds only cover the program’s basic expenses. Families often must raise their own funds to pay for additional equipment and training fees. The average cost per Junior Marines per year to participate is $500, which is particularly difficult for families with more than one Junior Marine and/or modest means.

On May 8th, 2009, the Bedichek Junior Marine Corps was awarded a house resolution for outstanding leadership and education by the Texas House of Representatives 81 HR 1147. The Silent Drill team performed on the south steps of the Texas state capital and that performance was featured on AISD Cable Channel 22.

The Silent Drill Team is a unit comprised of hand picked 6th-8th graders within the Junior Marine Corps. They execute an8-minute drill that shows the strict discipline that identifies all Junior Marines.

Their calculated movements with 5 pound drill rifles are done completely without verbal commands. This precision drill comes to climax with an inspection of the Junior Marines done by the Corps Drill Commander.

Their dedication and tireless effort bring great credit to AustinIndependentSchool District, BedichekMiddle School and the Bedichek Junior Marines.

This year, for the first time, we are offering an opportunity to local businesses like yours to become Junior Marine Corps Silent Drill Team Sponsors. Your contributions will be targeted exclusively for the purchase of 30 new drill M1Replica DrillAmerica® Rifle Set, Moving Bolt, Engraved, 15 M1 practice stocks, and 8 carrying cases. Our goal is to raise $7,000 dollars for these wonderful young men and women to be able to perform at a high level.

Any Junior Marine can freely solicit sponsorships from any person, business, or organization.

All Junior Marine sponsorship money must be used for the building, training, equipment, and inspections of the Confidence Course.

In order to receive tax benefits from the sponsorship, the sponsorship must be made to the Bedichek Junior Marine Corps and identified as a sponsorship. A percentage (cost of sponsorship) of all sponsorships will be retained at the school level as stated in the AISD Guidelines.

Once the written statement is received, Bedichek’s School Accountant will write a check to the designated Corps representative or vendor described in the receipt of goods.

In the event that all the money is not used for the listed approved expenses, the remaining money is to be redirected back to the Bedichek Junior Marine Corps Activity Account to be used for cost reduction for unforeseen expenses or future maintenance, inspections, and Professional Development.
