Temporary Public Information Manager

The embassy has a vacancy for aTemporary Public Information Manager.

The successful applicant will be required to work cooperatively and flexibly as part of a small team in the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section.

The position is for a period of 6 months from mid-September until mid-March 2014. It will be at the Broadband 3 level. The range is KRW 3,956,050 – KRW 4,561,532 per month.

The duties of the position and selection criteria are set out below.

  1. Manage the Australian Embassy Seoul Facebook page and blog; ensure up-to-date high quality contents and manage online reporters
  2. Manage and coordinate sports diplomacy events and activities
  3. Ensure that a high quality information service is provided to the Korean public by responding effectively to the general inquiries including email and phone
  4. Plan, coordinate and implement outreach programs and other major PD projects in line with PD objectives
  5. Arrangement of quarterly Team Australia meetings
  6. Provide assistance in media and issues management including daily media monitoring and event publicity
  7. Provide public diplomacy support during official visits to ROK by senior government officials

Selection Criteria

The Public Information Manager should possess the following skills, knowledge and personal attributes:

  • Proficient in both Korean and English. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing, with government, media and the public.
  • Minimum experience of 3-5 years in PR, including media and events.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. Initiative; flexibility; adaptability; ability to operate effectively within a work team.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads and other resources to complete given projects in a timely manner and on budget; to work effectively under pressure.
  • The position requires a self-starter with initiative, someone who can achieve allotted tasks and motivate supporting staff.
  • Experience and good knowledge on SNS and Australia is desirable.
