Audience and Occasion Analysis:

SPECIFIC GOAL: My audience will learn about Walt Disney’s accomplishments

SPEAKER ETHOS: I have been a fan of Walt Disney my whole life. I have studied his life and seen many movies about him.

PATTERN OF ORGANIZATION: I’ve chosen the chronological pattern of organization. I will list some important events in Walt Disney’s life in order of when they occurred.

AUDIENCE ANALYSIS: I will talk about how Walt came up with the idea of Disneyland and the struggle he faced making it become a reality.

OCCASION ANALYSIS: I will be giving my speech in my home to a group of people. It is a good setting because my home is filled with Disney décor and that will really set the mood for my speech.

I. INTRODUCTION:

Hook:

Have you ever visited a place where happiness is all around you? Where you can feel like a kid again and not have a care in the world? That place is Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth. Walt Disney was a man with an imagination as grand as a child’s. I will tell you about some crucial events in his life that led up to the opening of the most spectacular place in the country-Disneyland.

Ethos:

I spend much of my downtime studying Walt Disney’s life and have grown to respect and admire the man. I have been to Disneyland countless times and have stood where Walt stood and seen his apartment.

Thesis: Walt Disney dreamed big and worked hard to make his ultimate dream a reality, regardless of his struggles.

I’ll talk about three points that I feel are important regarding Walt’s life.

1. The beginning of Walt’s career as an innovator

2. The struggles he faced in his life

3. Why he desired to make the world a better place with his marvelous ideas

Body:

I. Walt Disney always had the goal of one day being a cartoonist.

1. He had a passion for animation from a very young age

a. He was the school newspaper cartoonist

b. He later opened up a cartoon studio in Hollywood with his brother

c. He created the famous Mickey Mouse cartoon in the 1920s

d. His first full-length feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, came out in 1937.

Although he was successful with opening his own studio, he did face some struggles.

2. Walt Disney faced some struggles.

a. Many of his early films were targets for ridicule

b. He faced anger, disappointment and depression issues, which affected his determination at times

c. He was diagnosed with lung cancer later in his life, which became a hindrance to him as he worked hard to progress the Disney Company.

He faced trials but ultimately his dream came true, which was making the world a better place.

3. Walt Disney wanted to better the lives of people of the world.

a. He created Disneyland so parents and children could have a place to go and spend time together, while having fun.

b. He was so involved in the operation of Disneyland. He was there multiple times a week visiting with people and making sure everything was running smoothly for his guests.

c. Prior to making Disneyland, he traveled around the country to important places in history that would help him as he planned architecture and the feel of his park.

d. He dedicated his life to creating a place for all of us to enjoy.

Conclusion:

Walt Disney is an international icon that will go down in history. What he created for people was an escape from the real world, a place for families. He was always passionate about what he was doing and although he faced trials, he made the people a priority and the final product, Disneyland, along with his many brilliant movies, are something people can cherish forever.
