Cantonese-speaking Mental Health Clinician

JOB CONTROL:Project Director and Clinical Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop bilingual Chinese outreach material to promote Innovation Project Asian Reach and recruit participants;
  2. Perform home-based and community-based outreach to Chinese-speaking elderly and/isolated adults with diagnosed or undiagnosed serious mental illness;
  3. Make home visits with Peer Mentors for initial screening/assessment, engagement and quarterly review;
  4. Coordinate the implementation of in-home culturally-responsive socialization and wellness activities with Peer Mentors;
  5. Provide crisis intervention and referral to mental health services as needed;
  6. Develop and administer pre- and post-test with enrolled participants;
  7. Assess respite needs of family members/caregivers and explore support options;
  8. Participate in project data analysis, evaluation and presentation to learning community and stakeholders;
  9. Provide mental health counseling and related clinical case management for children/youth/adults;
  10. Provide comprehensive mental health services, including intake evaluation, diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, and case management. Services to be provided in the out-patient clinic, client’s home, and school.
  11. Collaborate effectively with other agency and with community/school partners to establish continuity of care for clients;
  12. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of service contacts in accordance with agency, county, and state guidelines and quality assurance standards;
  13. Meet the standard of monthly required billable unitstreatment cases;
  14. Participate in staff meetings, trainings/case conference, peer review meetings, and supervision sessions;
  15. Other duties as may be required by the Project Director and Clinical Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in social work, marriage & family therapy, counseling or psychology;
  2. Bicultural/bilingual in Cantonese a must; additional dialects such as Mandarin and Toishanese a plus;
  3. Minimum one year clinical experience working with Asian clients;
  4. License-track preferred;
  5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  6. Ability to work independently and to exercise professional discretion and judgment;
  7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member, maintain professional working relationship with co-workers, client and family, community members and service providers;
  8. Embrace wellness and recovery principles in working with clients;
  9. Valid California Driver’s license, auto insurance with bodily injury liability limit of at least $100,000/300,000, and access to use of an automobile; and
  10. Support and implement the mission, vision and values of Asian Community Mental Health Services.
