RED HAT TEA at Convention in Greensboro

The ladies of the Florida JCI Senate are pleased to host the RED HAT TEA on Wednesday afternoon, June 22 following the election (or 3:00 p.m.)Check the agenda for the location.We have all traveled throughout the United States and the World on various Jaycee and Senate excursions.Please be prepared to share some of those experiences.AND remember your $$ for the USJCI Senate Foundation.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dawne Sutherland r 850-510-0809.Look forward to seeing all the Ladies at the Convention at our RED HAT TEA.

The Ohio JCI Senate C&E Foundation needs your help in making this one of the best yet. This event has been opened to the public. Our goal is 100 golfers. Remember that is not a big number that is only 25-4somes. You can help in several ways such has putting together golf teams to golf that day, becoming a sponsor and seeing if your employer will be a sponsor. We also need gifts to be auctioned and given away at the end of the tournament. You can also volunteer to work the outing itself.

Remember the net funds from this event are used to provide scholarships to deserving Ohio High School seniors. The Ohio JCI Senate C&E Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and thus can be used as a tax deduction on your federal taxes. Always be sure to consult with your tax consultant when taking deductions.

We are counting on you to help make this one of the best events yet. Support the Ohio JCI Senate C&E Foundation by taking a part in the 16th Annual Ron Robinson Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. Be sure to pass this information on to your friends, family, and associates.

2016 National Convention

Time is flyingNational convention is just 2 months away.If you have not registered yet registration now costs $155.Please get your forms to BJ Craft so we can have accurate head counts for dinner.The hotel block is still open, rooms, are still available at the Homewood Suites and are $120 per night.Anyone at the Homewood Suites can take your reservation please use the room block “US Senate.Please remember if you decide to stay elsewhere in Greensboro (other hotels) you will be charged a daily $25 off site fee.

Don’t forget about the wonderful tours we have in store for Convention attendees! We will be going to the RCR Racing Museum, SkyWild ropes course, Childress Winery, Historic Town of Old Salem, and Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. We would love to have more than 10 participants for each tour so we don’t have to cancel any, and some tours have cutoff dates of June 12, 2016, so send in your registrations soon! MOURNING THE LOSS:

Connecticut Senator Paul E. Allen #5099 died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on Saturday April 23, 2016. He graduated from Newtown High School in 1949 and held a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He was employed for ten years at Remington Rand Electric Shaver Division in Bridgeport, working on the design and development of components, particularly plastic parts. He went on to work for Woodstream Sporting Goods Co., actively involved in developing the battery operated fishing reel. He then managed a small company, Thor Plastics, in Sandy Hook for two years, before starting his own business, Allen Molders, 1969, and later Logic Devices, Inc., 1976. Logic pioneered much of the auxiliary equipment used in today's plastics industry. He was a founding member of the Newtown Jaycees Service Organization, and was honored by them with a lifetime membership in the USJCI Senate, Senator #5009. He was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church, where he was previously in the Choir and Men's Service Club. He was predeceased by his parents, Sigfried and Therese Allen and four older Brothers, Albert, Robert, George, and Charles. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Suarez Allen, five children and spouses Paul and Andrea Allen, Grace Terry Allen, Randi and Roderic Kiely, Linda and Joseph Villafano, Susan and Robert Middlebrook, twelve grandchildren, one great grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday April 28, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St Newtown. A Graveside service will be held Friday April 29 at 11 AM at Newtown Village Cemetery, Elm Drive, Newtown. Florida Senator Dr. Stephen Shores #14039.Dr. Stephen Shores, 1941-2016, passed in the comfort of his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Irving, TX, the son of florists Howard and Hazel (Mosher) Shores, Dr. Shores attendedTexas A&M University, where he served in the Corps of Cadets and earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1963. Over many decades, he provided compassionate care to thousands of pets in Irving, TX and Gainesville, FL and influenced hundreds of young veterinarians. He is a past-president of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and a founding member of the Alachua County Veterinary Medical Association. In 2015, Dr. Shores was presented with the first honorary doctorate of veterinary medicine issued by the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine in honor of his many contributions to the College and its students.He is survived in life by his wife of 33 years, Pat Shores, sons Mark Shores, and Jeff Shores, daughter Syndi Tow (Rodney), step-daughter Shannon Clements, step-son Jeremy Clements (Rachel), grandsons Justin Reese, Michael Tow, Nolan Shores, Jonathan Clements and Lucas Clements, granddaughters Emma Clements, Hillary McCrory and two great-granddaughters, cousin Leah Rae Nichols (Joe) and many friends.In honor of his parent's profession, he requests that in lieu of donations, flowers be sent. Iowa Senator Thomas Dean Bonnette #39570, 69, died unexpectedly at his home in Riceville, on Monday April 25, 2016. Tom was born August 26, 1946 in Charles City, IA to Clyde and Arlene (Larsen) Bonnette. He was a graduate of Riceville Community High School. On February 13, 1965 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Runde at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in LeRoy, MN and to this union two children were born-Seth and Sherrie. Tom began farming and was a Moorman Feed salesman.Tom worked at White Farm - New Idea Equipment Co. in Charles City until its closing in 1993. Over the course of his life, Tom was actively involved in Boy Scouts and took them camping year round! He was also very involved in JCs for example all the pancake breakfasts, Cancer Bowl-A-Thons, and endless selling of jelly by his children pulling a red Radio Flyer wagon throughout Riceville. Tom enjoyed watching anything grow and being involved with any and all children. He was the first to join in a wild and vicious card game or backyard neighborhood football game! He was a football enthusiast and drove all the way to the Rose Bowl with a carful of boys. Tom was a sports fanatic watching his children and grandchildren doing what they loved best. He also loved going uptown to have coffee with the crew. At the age of 32 Tom learned how to play guitar and many nights were spent at gigs and in the family room singing away. Tom enjoyed working with his hands doing woodworking with his Dad, Clyde. He enjoyed amusement parks like no other--totally an adult, but kid at heart. What Tom has thoroughly enjoyed first and foremost werehis four grandchildren.Survivors include his wife Anna of Riceville, a son Seth (Christina) of Denver, IA a daughter Sherrie (Christopher) Coffee of Storm Lake, IA. Hawaii Senator Ben Makaea #16931 passed away on April 28 after a long illness . He served as the Hawaii Senate president in 1984-85, was Region 10 Vice President, Commander of the Hawaii Mongoose Corps, and served for many years as US Senate Ambassador to Asia. Minnesota Senator Sherry Donabauer #48132 passed away on March 18th at St. Cloud Hospital. She was 65.Sherry Lynn Donabauer was born Jan. 9, 1951, in St. Cloud to Clarence and Vi Kramber. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1969. She married James G. Donabauer July 25, 1970.Sherry was preceded in death by her parents. Missouri Senator Bob Holbert #27166 passed away April 30th.Both Bob and Pat are well known to many of us. Bob is a Past President of the Missouri Senate and Pat has been an officer of the Senate Foundation for many years. North Carolina Senator Charles “Roger” Jones #17609, passed away April 10.Roger, as he was known was the 6th President of the Pfafftown Jaycees. His year as president (1971-1972), Pfafftown was recognized as the best chapter in NC. As you see, he served his community well. Please extend your thoughts and Prayers to Roger's family as they and our Senate family mourn the loss of a man who believed in "Service to Humanity".

Ohio Senator Bert Cummins #27021, age 68, passed away suddenly Sunday morning, April 10, 2016 in his home. Preceded in death by his parents Howard and Evelyn (Wood) and brother David. Survived by his loving family: wife, Ruth Garner; children, Katherine, Judson, Megan (and Kyle Leslie) and Mackenzie; and grandchildren, Mary Caroline, Judson Lee, and Parker J. (Leslie). Bert was a Certified Public Accountant practicing at firm Cummins Krasik and Hohl from 1982- 2011 and HW and CO from 2011-2014. After his retirement, Bert moved from his long-time home in Ohio to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Bert was a lover of the game of golf, and an avid fan of the band, The Eagles. - See more at:Charlie Eberhardt #54887 shares:As you should know by now the Ohio JCI Senate C&E Foundation is holding their Annual Ron Robinson Memorial Charity Golf Tournament on July 16, 2016. At this year's tournament Brad "JEEP" Blair has made a donation in memory of Bert Cummins, JCI Senator #27021. Bert was an avid golfer and loved golfing. Bert was laid to rest on April 15th with his golf shirt on. Bert was a very highly recognized Certified Public Accountant in Ohio. While at work Bert was dressed to the nines always very professional. After his retirement two years ago, Bert swore never to wear a suit again thus the golf shirt.Many of you know Bert Cummins and many of you did not have the honor of knowing him. Bert was President of the Columbus Jaycees and is credited with bringing "Rally in the Alley" to downtown Columbus. At one of these events, to much surprise of the Jaycees, Bert was found on stage with the Danger Brothers playing keyboard. Yes Bert could played keyboard very well. Not only was Bert the chapter president of the Columbus Jaycees but he also held the office of Treasurer of the Ohio Jaycees under the leadership of Nick Frank, JCI Senator #24331, and Treasurer of the US Jaycees under the leadership of Gilbert "Gib" Garrow, President of the US Jaycees 1980-1981. Bert had a great love for the Jaycee organization and had a very generous heart.With all said above there are many that want to remember Bert by making a special donation in his honor at the Annual Ron Robinson Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. Many of you have stepped up and made contribution but yet there are many that haven't at this point. We are asking for a minimum of $10 toward this honor for Bert Cummins. Texas Senator Cliffe Hahne died on April 26thage 79.Cliff was born September 4, 1936 in Gillespie County Texas to Elbert and Vera Lorenz Hahne.Cliff married Patsy Heimann on February 15, 1958 in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, Texas.Cliff is survived by his wife: Patsy Heimann Hahne of Fredericksburg.Two children and spouses: Bradley and Jan Hahne of Fredericksburg.Lizette and Stephen Fiedler of Fredericksburg, Two grandchildren, Five sister-in-laws and spouses.Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Holy Ghost Church, FBG EMS, FBG Jaycees, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Arkansas Senators Ken #35206 & Dorothy #58411 Gill on the recent death of their granddaughter Anna Charley Tanner.Anna Charley Tanner, 18, of Little Rock, died on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
Charley was born February 20, 1998 and attended Mount Saint Mary Academy, where she was scheduled to graduate in May 2016. She planned to continue her education at the University of Arkansas and train to be a pediatric nurse.Charley was a beautiful spirit who loved and experienced life to the fullest. She was known for her strong will and standing up for what she believed to be right. Charley was blessed with many great friends and was devoted to being a great friend in return. One of Charley’s best and most special friends was William McCastlain, who always treated Charley with the respect and love that she deserved.Charley was preceded in death by her grandfather, Clyde Grissom and uncle, Lanny Grissom.Charley is survived by her parents, Chris and Samantha Tanner of Little Rock; her brother, Blaine Tanner of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandparents, Pat and Jimmy Johnson of Greenbriar, Arkansas, Dottie and Ken Gill, Jenny and Robert Tanner, of Little Rock and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
