Final Draft Grading Procedures

Since this is the first time that we are using the On-line Essay Scoring process through our textbook publishers at Holt, students should find that following the steps below will make the process smooth and enjoyable. Students should find this process satisfying because the scoring of their paper will be nearly instantaneously completed by Holt’s use of Knowledge Analysis Technology.

  1. Students must first save their paper in the form of a Word document to their space on the school server. They should title this document “NameLiterary Analysis Essay
    Use your last name in place of the word “Name.”
  1. Students should then access the computer-grading interface by accessing Mr. Ott’s homepage at www2.fultonschools.org/teacher/ottg , selecting the Literature textbook icon, and then loging into the site using the information in step 3.
  1. Students should then input the Username and Password that they have recorded above (this is case sensitive), Select “Online Essay Scoring,” then Writing about Literature, and then carefully click on the correct prompt for our essay.
  1. Students will then need to go back to their Word document, copy the text of the document and then paste it into the space given to type the essay into the scoring interface. (Students should review the paper to make sure they have copied the entire paper and that it is formatted properly)
  1. Then they should select “Get My Score” to view the assessment of the paper. Students should record the holistic assessment of their paper that appears above their essay. The sore will be a 1,2,3, or 4.
    4 – 100%
    3 – 85%
    2 – 70%
    1 – 55%
  1. Students may then select from the choices above to see more detailed analytic feedback, view suggestions for improving the paper, as well as study a model paper on that topic.
  1. Students should access the Analytical Feedback to record the results on their scoring record.
  1. Students should examine the Rubrics and review the analytic feedback results for their paper, and then return to their word document and use the feedback to revise. Students satisfied with the score the paper has earned, may let Mr. Ott know, so the scored result can be confirmed, printed, and recorded.
  1. Students may continue to resubmit and revise their work up to four times or until we have completed the 4th Day in the computer lab. At the end of the 4th day, their latest or fourth score will be the one that contributes to their final grade for the assignment.Students who submit more than four times or from home without permission will be penalized.
  1. Students who miss the scoring day in the computer lab may either make up the time before school or may complete the process at home with permission from Mr. Ott, but final scores will be determined by submitted versions of the paper no later than Friday, November13th.
