A Few Years Ago, the EU Athletic Department Hosted the Inaugural Red Raiders Athlete Picnic

Dear

A few years ago, the EU athletic department hosted the inaugural Red Raiders’ athlete picnic and on August 15, 2015 we want to bring everyone back for round two. We are inviting all student-athletes and cheerleaders that participated in athletics before 1967. We had over 30 alumni attend the picnic in 2013 and are hoping to double that this year. I am happy to announce that this year’s plans are well in place for August and you can begin to make final arrangements to attend the event.

Attached you will find the picnic reservation form and the hotel/entertainment information. Special rates have been negotiated at these area hotels to give you a choice which makes you the most comfortable. These reservations need to be made by August 1, 2015 to receive the discount rate. The hotels in Erie are located within a mile of the Presque Isle Downs and Casino and Millcreek Mall shopping.

The picnic will start at noon on Saturday, August 15 at Sox Harrison Stadium so plan on attending, rain or shine. The rain site is the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Center (Dome). The picnic is free of charge to all 1949-1967 athletes, coaches, managers, and cheerleaders of this era and their family and friends. Please complete the enclosed reservation form to reserve your spot. We are looking forward to meeting old friends and reliving some of the great times you had at Edinboro. You will be able to see first-hand the many changes that have taken place over the past 50 years. Yes, it has been over 50 years for some of us but our energy and enthusiasm for Edinboro University is at an all-time high.

The plans for the Red Raiders athlete weekend can be found on the website at in the black header; go to “giving” tab, click on “Red Raider”.

We hope you will be able to attend the Red Raider athlete picnic. It was great to get together the first time and we are all looking forward to seeing you again. Once again, this should prove to be a fun and enjoyable picnic. We can enjoy each other’s company and once again talk about the “old” days.

We hope to see you on August 15th.

Best personal regards,

Bruce BaumgartnerDavid O’Dessa
