Grading Policy

Grades will accurately reflect what students know, understand, and how they apply learning in meaningful ways. Grades will be based primarily on various assessments and performance tasks, which reflect larger experiences of learning. These grades will comprise 70% of students’ grade averages in the course. This category will include tests, common unit assessments, projects, performances, and presentations.

Exit tickets, vocabulary quizzes, homework and classwork tasks will comprise 30% of the student’s grade average.

Schoology- Powerpoints and handouts will be available online. Students will be referred to Schoology in the case of class absences or a misplaced worksheet/assignment.

MY EXPECTATIONS OF YOU AS A STUDENT:

  1. To treat me and your classmates with respect and care as an individual
  2. To attend class regularly and be prepared for class
  3. To be cooperative and not disruptive
  4. To complete your homework on the night it is given
  5. To study and do your best: EFFORT=SUCCESS!

MY RESPONSIBILITIES AS YOUR TEACHER:

  1. To treat you with respect and care as an individual
  2. To provide a safe learning environment that is insult-free
  3. To provide lessons that reflect the different learning styles of students

Behavior Expectations

Feel free to do whatever you wish… as long as it does not cause problems for yourself, me, or anyone else.

How can I avoid causing a problem for myself, the teacher or a fellow classmate:

  1. Be seated when the bell rings, completing the warm up
  2. Bring your binder, agenda, and pencil every day to class
  3. Respect yourself, teachers and classmates
  4. Stop, look and listen when the hand signal is given
  5. Always use appropriate language, no profanity or insults
  6. Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself
  7. When someone is speaking, your eyes are focused on the them and your mouth is closed
  8. Raise your hand to ask a question, share in discussion or to leave your seat

Absences

Excessive absences should be avoided. In the event of an absence, you are required to check in with me in order to receive the class and homework assignments that were missed. You can also check Schoology for the powerpoint, lesson and handouts. I also recommend having a “study buddy” to bring home materials, books or assignments for when you are absent.

Extra Help

If any student feels he/she needs extra help, has any questions, or needs to stay after school to make up work from an absence, they are encouraged to see me and set up a time. I am available after school with advanced notice.

I hope this course guide is clear and helpful to you. I am looking forward to an exciting year filled with many rewards and challenges that will encourage growth and maturity!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Camfield
