DODGEBALL RULES

THE GAME

The object of the game is to eliminate all opposing players by getting them "OUT". This may be done by:

·  Hitting an opposing player with a LIVE thrown ball below the shoulders. (Head shots are illegal. Thrower will be out!)

·  Catching a LIVE ball thrown by your opponent before it touches the ground.

Definition of LIVE: A ball that has been thrown and has not touched anything, including the floor/ground, another ball, another player, official or other item outside of the playing field (wall, ceiling, etc)

BOUNDARIES

During play, all players must remain within the boundary lines. Players may leave the boundaries through their end-line only to retrieve stray balls. They must also return through their end-line. Also, players who step over the center line are immediately disqualified.

THE OPENING RUSH

Game begins with each team having three dodge balls. This head referee officially signals the start of the contest.

TIMING AND WINNING A GAME

The first team to legally eliminate all opposing players will be declared the winner. A 3-minute time limit has been established for each contest. If neither team has been eliminated at the end of the 3 minutes, the team with the greater number of players remaining will be declared the winner.

TIE-BREAKER

In the event of a tie, the remaining players from each team will have a 1 minute FACE OFF to determine the winner.

(Tournament play is double elimination. A team’s failure to report to the court when called will result in immediate disqualification.)

11th Annual Dodge ball Tournament

Teams of 8 players will compete in a single elimination bracket. Teams will represent the student body, community members and faculty/staff.

Forms can be turned in beginning Monday, February 27th @ BHS. After Prom Committee will be onsite at BHS Wednesday, March 8th through Friday, March 10th. All registrations must be turned in no later than 12:00 pm Friday, March 10th along with entry fee of $5.00 per person or $40.00 per team. Checks should be made payable to “BHS After Prom”.

I, the undersigned, individually or as parent(s) and/or guardian(s) of the individual listed above ask that he/she be admitted to participate in this sport competition. In association of such admission, I do hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless Non-Traditional Media, Henry County Public Schools and BHS, any participating charities and trade associations, and all officers, agents, volunteers, sponsors, and employees of and from all causes, liabilities, damages, claims, or demands whosoever on account of any injury or accident involving the said individual attendance at the sport competition and/or activities held in connection with the event.

*PLAYERS MUST BE CHECKED IN AND READY TO PLAY BY 6:00 PM ON Friday, March 10th. Players must wear sneakers-no sandals. Players are encouraged to wear protective eyewear and team uniforms.

·  Competitors must report to the event by 6:00 pm.

·  Players must wear coordinated uniforms and sneakers. Players can wear whatever clothing they want to create their uniforms and are encouraged to wear the uniforms to school the day of the tournament. All players are encouraged to wear protective goggles.

·  Winners will receive prizes!

·  Please RETURN THIS SHEET ALONG WITH THE INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION FORM/PERMISSION SLIPS AND REGISTRATION FEE TO BHS Main Office beginning Monday, February 27th. The After Prom Committee will be at BHS during lunch blocks between Wednesday,

March 8th through Friday, March 10th.
