Position Title: Assistant Director of Worship Arts, ADWA(full-time)

Accountability: Director of Worship Arts, DWA

Position Summary: The ADWA will serve God and the church as a regularWorship Leader in two worship venues. The ADWA will also team with the DWA as a ‘Worship Arts Academy’ developer/implementer, and provide administrative support in the areas of scheduling, license reporting and ministry development. The ADWA should understand and support the values, mission and vision of Faith Lutheran Church. The DWA serves as a supervisor and resource in areas of encouragement, spiritual growth, professional development and leadership.

Primary Responsibilities: The ADWA must be able to perform the following duties:

Planning

  1. Collaborate withPastorsand DWA in the planning and preparation of weeklySaturday and Sunday worship services, as well as seasonal services as needed.
  2. Collaborate with preaching Pastor on song selection, liturgy and order of service.
  3. Schedule musicians and technicians to execute a high-quality, consistent worship experience.
  4. Design weekly ProPresenter presentations for contemporary worship.
  5. Collaborate with Director of Youth for Wednesday youth services once per month during school year.
  6. Schedule and rehearse youth musicians and sound technicians.
  7. Collaborate with Director of Youth on song selection and design PowerPoint slides.
  8. Collaborate with Celebration Lutheran School (CLS) and DWA on special events and weekly chapels.
  9. Coordinate weekly chapel services for CLS with teachers (slides, song selection, and A/V.)
  10. Assist middle school students in monthly chapel planning as needed.
  11. Rehearse Celebration choirs in preparation for worship services and/or graduation.

Execution

  1. Leadsin contemporary worship services at both the Faith and Celebration Ministry Centers.
  2. Proficient at leading worship from the guitaror keyboard and as lead vocal.
  3. Ability to add extemporaneous prayer to a worship experience.
  4. Monitor the worship needs of the congregation to maximize participation and engagement.
  5. Ability to conduct efficient rehearsals with both singers and instrumentalists.
  6. Display strong leadership qualities by coming organized, prepared and on time to rehearsals.
  7. Ability to read music and teach musical concepts to instrumentalists and vocalists.
  8. Provide spiritual encouragement and growth to volunteers.
  9. Proficient at handling audio/video technology needs for both Faith and CLS.
  10. Leadsweekly chapel services for CLS.

Development

  1. Assist DWA in developing and growing the Worship Arts ministry for Faith.
  2. Recruit and mentor new musicians and technicians of all ages.
  3. Team with DWA in further expansion of the Worship Arts to include dance, drama and art.
  4. Attend annual workshops, conferences or retreats to further personal growth and development.

Administration

  1. Assist DWA in the administrative dutiesfor the Worship Arts ministry.
  2. Oversee and maintain Planning Center Online with personnel data, music scores and recordings necessary for preparing volunteers for excellence in worship.
  3. Report song usage for all contemporary worship services.
  4. Identify and communicate budgetary requirements to DWA by September 1st for new budget.
  5. Attend meetings as needed.
  6. Other duties as needed to maintain a cohesive and evolving Worship Arts ministry.

Interaction: The ADWA requires interface and interaction with the following groups:

  1. Members of the Pastoral Office Teamand Administrative Staff.
  2. Current and future volunteers serving in the Worship Arts Ministry at Faith Lutheran Church.
  3. Worshipers from both Faith Ministry Centers and Celebration Ministry Center.
  4. Celebration Lutheran School staff and students.
  5. Fox Valley community (identifying opportunities to serve outside of the church.)

Qualifications: ADWA skills needed to effectively complete the above responsibilities are typically acquired through training and experience. Therefore, he/she will most likely have acquired:

  1. Three or more years of experience in leading non-traditional worship services.
  2. Training in a Christian University or Christian Church.
  3. Experience in a team environment that requires relational, organizational and communication skills.
  4. Experience with audio/visual equipment and a variety of software programs.

Personal Qualifications: The ADWA must be a Christ-centered, teachable, and relational leader.

  1. The ADWA shall be committed, first and foremost, to a personal, growing relationship with our Savior. He/she shall be devoted to Bible study, worship, prayer and a personal devotional life.
  1. The ADWA shall be a model of discipleship for all members, guests and friends of Faith Lutheran Church. This does not mean being perfect, but understanding one’s position before the Lord, living under the cross of Christ, and demonstrating a heart-felt desire to please the Lord in words and actions.
  1. The ADWA shall be a servant leader — not interested in self-promotion, but driven by a Christ-like desire to make others better — positioning himself/herself as a servant to those whom he/she leads.
  1. The ADWA shall possess a humble spirit, demonstrating a genuine concern for all people (regardless of age, race, background, or economics), a nonjudgmental heart, an appreciation for the unique gifts and talents of every member of the Body of Christ. He/she shall also be willing to examine himself/herself in light of correction or suggestions and maintain a confident but teachable heart.
  1. It is expected that the ADWA will become a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
