  • All finals will run in weight class order and will start at same time (1st, 3rd, 5th)
  • The order will be boys 106, then girls 95, alternating until done
  • All awards will be given out for all 24 weight classes at the conclusion of the boys heavy weight match
  • Challenge matches will then start in gym 2

General Information

  1. All entries must be emailed to Tournament Director Derek Ankney as soon as your Districts are over, or by 10:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 11th.
  2. The Regional tournament will be using Track Wrestling for scoring and running the tournament.District Directors are to enter names into track wrestling as well.
  3. No seeding meeting, we will use matrix as in past years. The draw will be done at the Merrill Center at 3:00 on Saturday, Feb. 11th; all are welcome to attend
  4. Entry Fee: $20.00 per contestant. Make checks payable to KISD Athletics. Mailed checks need to be sent to: Vinnie Lowe at Katy H.S. 6331 Highway Blvd. 77494.If not mailed, have ready to turn in before weigh-ins to ensure your wrestlers entry into meet.
  5. Weigh-ins: On Friday, weigh in will start at 7:00 for the boys and 11:00 for the girls. On Saturday, both will weigh in at 8:00. Any athlete that does not make weight will be scratched from the tournament. If scratched due to a missed weight, the athlete’s opponent will be advanced to the next round by forfeit.
  6. Please have UIL skin forms with your athletes at weigh ins. A doctor will be on hand.
  7. All championship and consolation matches will be 2-2-2 in length.
  8. Wrestle backs are allowed for advancement purposes only and only if the4th and 5th place finishers have not previously faced each other in this tournament, or if the 4th place finisher has not defeated the 5th place finisher in this tournament. Challenges are automatic.
  9. Alternates will be placed in the bracket if the advancing wrestler is unable to attend. Once weigh-ins are over for a particular class, there will be no substitutions. Alternates will not replace a wrestler who misses weight. This is from the UIL wrestling guidelines and is same format for the State Tournament.
  1. We will have medals for top 6 in each bracket and will award a most outstanding wrestler award for boys and girls. We will also present region III 6A boys and girls coaches of the year awards. Awards ceremonies will follow after the conclusion of all finals matches, and all athletes must be in their school-issued uniforms.
  2. Make sure no “guru” or non-school employee coaches are ever on the floor. If caught they will be escorted out, and the school that they were coaching will be turned into the UIL.
  3. IMPORTANT: all bus and fan parking will NOT be at the high school on Friday until 3:30pm; YOU NEED TO DROP OFF ALL ATHLETES BY 6:20 ON FRIDAY. You will then proceed to 2nd Baptist Church at 5757 FM 1463, 77494. Make sure you tell your parents as well. A shuttle service will operate all day to take you from and back to your vehicles. There will be no exceptions.
  4. Ticket Prices: Adults $10 per day/ $15 all tournament pass; Students $5 per day, $10 all tournament pass.
  5. There will be a brief coaches meeting Friday morning at 8:30; location to be announced.
  6. On Friday, school will be in session, and any athlete found wondering past the gym area will be removed from the tournament.
  7. There will be no on-site practice time offered.
  8. Hotel Information: Two hotels are offering special rates for the tournament.
