Like last year, pre-registration is online and we are once again doing audition blocks. Please refer to the following link.

  • For the 2017 Sr. Regional Orchestra Auditions students will be assigned an audition block. This will streamline the registration tables as well as reduce wait times. If a student has a specific and unavoidable event that prohibits them from having a later audition time (i.e. Marching band competition, instrumental competition, etc.), students are to fill out the audition block request form and turn that into you. If you determine that the request is valid, indicate that in the online form when you submit your student’s names. Audition block assignments will be sent out on Monday, September 18th. We will work to honor all requests as best we can.
  • With Block assignments, students will be able to check in during their block registration time and then warm-up in the auditorium. Students may not register before their assigned block.
  • Students may come early, before their assigned block if they would like to warm-up. If they arrive after their block registration is over, we will attempt to move them into the next available slot.
  • Block Registration times are as follows
  • Block A Registration: 8:45-9:45 Audition Time: 9:00-10:00
  • Block B Registration: 9:45-10:45 Audition Time: 10:10-11:10
  • Block C Registration: 10:45-11:45 Audition Time: 11:15-12:15
  • Block D Registration: 11:45-12:45 Audition Time: 12:20-1:20
  • Block E Registration: 12:45-1:45 Audition Time: 1:25-2:25

Students are considered pre-registered if their director has submitted their student’s name. All student names must be submitted electronically by Friday, September 15th, at 11:59PM. Students will pay the $5.25 registration fee on site the day of the audition when they check in.

Auditions end when the last student has been auditioned. Please look over the Regional Orchestra section of the VBODA manual so you are familiar with the event. Teachers will be assigned duties and judging assignments. Judging assignments will be sent out on Monday, September 18th. The General Information about the required scales and musical excerpts are on the North Central Orchestra Website

If a Director plans to pay for all their registered students, you may bring one check along with a FULL LIST OF STUDENTS THE MONEY COVERS to the audition site by 8:30 am on September 23rd.Please do not send any student forms or money ahead of the audition date. Checks are to be made out to Broad Run High School.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME STUDENT REGISTRATION FORMS. The students will turn those in when they check-in and pay at the audition site.

If you have students that decide they want to audition after thedeadline, they will register on site and pay the $5.25 registration fee.Remember to share all information with everyone, especially any NEW teachers.

Teachers must have their current NAfME membership card when they sign in. If a teacher does not belong to NAfME/VBODA, then there is a $126.00 non-member fee payable on site.

The VBODA policy states,

“Students may not be registered unless they are accompanied by their director or an adult appointed by their director and school principal. A statement signed by the director and the principal is required and must be submitted with the registration form or presented upon registration. Proof of the director's VBODA membership must be shown or payment of the non-member fee must be made. Directors, or appointed adults, must remain for the duration of their students' participation in this event.”

No students will be allowed to register, whether they were pre-registered or not, until the director has signed in or the chairperson has received a School Principal’s letter by director registration time and a duly appointed representative has signed in on the director’s behalf. If the chairperson does not receive the School Principal’s letter by director registration time, students from that school will not be allowed to audition.

If you are going to be late, please call me at (571) 408-9963. Once the director or representative has signed in, students may register. If you cannot attend the auditions, please let me know immediately so I may alter the judging assignments.
