AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE THE T.L. HANNA HIGH SCHOOLFISHING TEAM FOR ITS EXCEPTIONAL ANGLING SKILL AND TO CONGRATULATE TEAM MEMBERS DEREK FREEMAN AND TREVOR CALLAHAM ON WINNING THE 2015 HIGH SCHOOL FISHING WORLD FINALS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that the T.L. Hanna High Schoolfishing team wonthe2015 High School Fishing World Finals,held July 811, 2015, at Alabama’s legendary Pickwick Lake; and

Whereas, open to all students participating in the Student Angler Federation’s High School Fishing program, the competition is the largest open championship in the nation; and

Whereas, representing Anderson’s T.L. Hanna High and this great State, Derek Freeman and Trevor Callaham rocketed up the leaderboard with a twentypound, twoounce fivefish limit to top the hardfishing field of one hundred sixtysix twoperson teams from twentytwo states during the fourday competition; and

Whereas, Derek and Trevor, both eighteen years of age, weighed five bass for seventeen pounds, twelve ounces on day one, landing in seventh overall. In the final round, they turned in their best showing of the tournament with a twentypound, twoounce limit, anchored by a sevenpound, fiveounce behemoth. Throughout the event, they weighed all largemouths, despite Pickwick’s propensity to produce nicesized smallmouths and spotted bass; and

Whereas, trained by Hanna’s Coach Andrew Ray, the pair earned more than twenty thousand dollars in college scholarships, prizes, and Cabela’s gift cards with their victory; and

Whereas, Derek, the son of David and Karen Freeman,currently plans to attend Clemson University, while Trevor, the son of David and Kelli Callaham, will study at TriCounty Technical College this fall. Both plan to make fishing a big part of their lives; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in applauding the outstanding achievements of the T.L. Hanna High Schoolfishing team, and the members look with interest to hearing of its continued success in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and celebrate the T.L. Hanna High Schoolfishing team for its exceptional angling skill and congratulate team members Derek Freeman and Trevor Callaham on winning the 2015 High School Fishing World Finals.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Derek Freeman and Trevor Callaham.
