Tayla Patterson-Doyle submitted a medical certificate clearing her to ride tonight.

RACE 1 –BIRD DISTILLING COMPANY 2YO MAIDEN PLATE–1100 METRES

Toorak Affair jumped out at the start and lost ground (2L).

Tom Archie was crowded and checked on jumping between Powerful Prospect and Gee Gee Pureblonde both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 800 metres Jupiter’s Moon (K Maskiell) shifted in when not fully clear of Starity Misswhich had to be steadied and was carried in hampering Tom Archie. Kyle Maskiell was advised that he must exercise more care when in similar circumstances.

Silzoar raced ungenerously in the middle stages.

Approaching the 300 metres Gee Gee Pureblonde, when laying in despite the efforts of its rider, shifted in and tightened the running of Powerful Prospect which had to be checked off its heels.

Kim Moore rider of Starity Miss reported that her mount raced greenly.

Sigrid Carr rider of Tom Archie reported that her mount hung out throughout.

RACE 2 – TAS NETWORKS MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE- 1600 METRES

Visscher was slow to begin (3L).

Saint’s Quest jumped out at the start carrying Lyndspur wider on the track.

Porus jumped awkwardly then shifted out tightening Impulsive Lager.

Leigh John was caught wide in the early and middle stages.

Near the 50 metres Lyndspur which was racing in restricted room behind Porus and Storm Gust had to be steadied and shift wider to obtain clear running.

RACE 3 – BILL DUNSTONE MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP- 1400 METRES

The start was delayed when The Real Deal had to have its near side hind shoe replaced.

Following a report from the Starter that Hello Gertie proved difficult to load, connections were advised that the mare must complete a satisfactory trial before racing again.

Toakio Tower stood flat footed and was slow to begin (3L).

Anpao was slow to begin (2L).

The Real Deal was momentarily tightened shortly after the start.

Gotta Have Vibe shifted in away from Ariconte and momentarily tightened The Real Deal.

The Stockman was trapped wide in the early stages.

Hello Gertie was tightened for room approaching the 400 metres when attempting a narrow run between Gotta Have Vibe and Must Be Love.

Udayan was momentarily held up on the home turn.

Approaching the 100 metres Toakio Tower shifted out resulting in Udayan being carried out bumping The Stockman.

When pulling up The Real Deal and The Stockman collided and fell,harmlessly dislodging both riders before galloping towards the mounting yard whereThe Stockman collided with Udayan dislodging Jason Lyon. Jason Lyon was examined by the on-course ambulance officers and passed fit to continue riding. The Real Deal and The Stockman both underwent veterinary examinations which revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 4 – TOLL TASMANIA 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE DIV 1(1)- 1200 METRES

Trainer G White advised that it was connections intention for Colonial Coaster to be ridden a little quieter tonight.

Due to the delay in assessing Jason Lyon’s fitness following the post-race fall in Race 3, Stewards determined to replace him as the rider of Rialto Jess.

Rialto Jess jumped inwards and bumped Antah at the start.

Derek The Viking shifted out after the start carrying Sphero out onto Credaro which then bumped with Glenferry Road.

Near the 1100 metres Colonial Coaster, when being restrained, commenced to over-race before shifting out marginally carrying Sunday School out which in turn inconvenienced Derek The Viking.

Sphero hung out making the 400 metre turn.

Over the concluding stages Sphero laid in under pressure.

Antah shifted out over the concluding stages.

Brendon McCoull rider of Derek The Viking reported that the gelding hung in.

RACE 5 – LONGFORD CUP NEW YEARS DAY 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE DIV 2 (2)– 1200 METRES

Trainer G White advised that it was connections intention to ride Stormy Affair further forward tonight. The filly was ridden accordingly.

Bella Abati jumped awkwardly and struck the barrier before being contacted by King Shaka which shifted in. Bella Abati lost ground (2L) and failed to muster speed in the early stages.

Faith In Georgina and Stormy Affair bumped on jumping.

Strategic Moves hung in in the early stages.

Faith In Georgina shifted out off the heels of Strategic Moves which was racing ungenerously approaching the 700 metres and carried Mount Nevis wider on the track.

Making the home turn Strategic Moves hung in and continued to do so for some distance.

RACE 6 – PFD FOOD SERVICES 3YO TROPHY–1400 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Daniel Ganderton rider of Gee Gee Red Prince and trainer Stuart Gandy wished to view the official film over the concluding stages. After doing so he was satisfied and correct weight was declared.

Following a report from the Starter that Speedhump was fractious in the barriers, connections were advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

Speedhump jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily with Underplay.

Jerilderie Letter which also shifted out at the start then hampered Speedhump.

Over the concluding stages Jerilderie Letter (A Darmanin) laid in under pressure and near the winning post tightened the running of Gee Gee Red Prince which had to be checked by its rider. After taking evidence from both riders it was established that Anthony Darmanin had endeavoured to correct his mount at this point but it shifted in despite his efforts. Stewards accepted his explanation.

Brendon McCoull rider of Siorca which performed below expectations explained that the gelding felt flat throughout and in his opinion this was due to the removal of blinkers. Trainer B Campbell advised that it is his intention to have blood tests taken from the gelding.

Bulent Muhcu rider of Claiborne King pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres which is two more than the permitted number and was subsequently fined $100.

RACE 7 – KEVIN SHARKIE TASMANIAN STAKES– 1600 METRES

David Pires rider of Streetwise Savoire reported that the gelding slipped and became unbalanced passing the 800 metres.

RACE 8 – STEVE’S LIQUOR CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Steven Davis trainer of Alsa Doll was fined $50 under AR 140A(1) in that he presented the mare in the mounting yard without winkers.

Craig Conron trainer of Auntie Beverley was fined $50 under AR 140A(1) in that he presented the mare in the mounting yard without a tongue tie.

Kyle Maskiell rider of Into The Wind was harmlessly dislodged en route to the barriers before Into The Wind galloped free for some distance and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 9.57 pm by order of Stewards. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on Into The Wind to be refunded in full.

On jumping Extended Warranty and Auntie Beverley bumped.

Alsa Doll failed to muster early speed.

Geegees Double Jo raced wide throughout.

RACE 9 – GAZ MAN BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Approaching the 800 metres Espry when over racing got its head up and shifted out over the heels of Baldez resulting in Mikaylas Raider being hampered.

Kyle Maskiell rider of Calavera pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres which is one more than the permitted number and was subsequently fined $100.

Sigrid Carr rider of Powercharged pleaded not guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding in that near the 300 metres she permitted her mount to shift out onto Mikaylas Raider which was taken out resulting in Ash For Cash being tightened and checked between that horse and Calavera. The inquiry was adjourned to allow Sigrid Carr to seek further representation.

Subsequent to the race Anthony Darmanin rider of King Of Finland reported that the gelding had pulled up sore. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor cut to the near fore frog.

RACE 3 – LONGFORD NEW YEARS DAY PICNIC RACE MEETING CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1100 METRES

Kyle Maskiell rider of Pop A Lefty pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that near the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of Etown. Stewards deemed the interference and carelessness to be of low to mid level. Kyle Maskiell’s licence to ride in races was suspended for one (1) Tasmanian race meeting to commence at midnight 31 December 2015 and to expire at midnight 1 January 2016. In arriving at penalty Stewards took into consideration Kyle Maskiell’s guilty plea and good record in relation to this rule.

RACE 5 – TASMANIAN BAKERIES BENCHMARK 82 HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

An inquiry was commenced and then adjourned into the reasons for Settler’s Joy falling near the 400 metres.

RACE 2 - WONDERFUL WARDROBES 3YO & UPWARDS – DIVISION 2 – SET WEIGHTS – 1100 METRES

Subsequent to the race meeting, Stephen Shaw trainer of Westside Miss reported that a chiropractic examination had revealed the mare was sore in the near side shoulder and back. Westside Miss will now be spelled.

RACE 3 – BRIGHTON COUNCIL 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – SET WEIGHTS – 1600 METRES

Grant Challinger rider of Carr De Naska pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres which is two more than permitted under the rule and was subsequently fined $100.

RACE 8 – MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Ismail Toker rider of O’Reillys Geegee pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres which is two more than permitted under the rule and was subsequently fined $100.
