14th IDBF World Nations Dragon Boat Championships – Thailand – 2019 (? Late July / early August 2019)
Below is some preliminary information for the Aurora Thailand campaign. We are circulating this information now as IDBF have made changes to the age cut off dates for IDBF sanctioned events and would like to give paddlers the opportunity to ascertain how this change will impact them.
IDBF have changed the age cut off date from 31st May to the 31st December of the competition year. This change will create some opportunities for all Aurora Divisions. Eg someone who turns 40 anytime during 2019 will now be in Senior A. Someone who turns 18 anytime during 2019 will now be in U24s. Similar for all other divisions.
There will be more detailed information regarding theThailand campaign circulated in early April. However, below are the timelines for the Thailand campaign as they stand as at 7th February 2018. Also attached is the fitness benchmark requirements for Thailand campaign for each division.
April2018 – Additional information about campaign circulated.
April 2018 – Expression of interest for Auroras Team Manager.
End April / early May2018 – review, appoint, and announceAuroras Team Manager.
May 2018 – Expression of interest for Divisional Coaches and Team managers.
End of May 2018 – review, appoint, and announce appointedCoaches and Team Managers.
June 2018 – Expression of interest for Junior paddlers, drummers and sweeps circulated.
1-15 of July 2018 – Fitness testing in each state for Juniors. (State fitness coordinators, actual dates and venues advised later).
16-31 of July 2018 – Invitations extended to Juniors to attend Junior Aurora selection camp 1.
July 2018 – Expression of interest for all other divisions paddlers, drummers and sweeps circulated.
1-21 of September 2018 – Fitness testing in each state for all other divisions. (State fitness coordinators, actual dates and venues advised later).
22 - 30 of September 2018 – Invitations extended to Senior Aurora Divisionsto attend Senior Divisions selection camp 1.
? end of September 2018 –Junior Camp 1 - Selection of Junior Aurora (location TBA). This will involve single craft and dragon boats.
All other selection camps for Senior Divisions will be held after Asian Championships. More information on dates and divisional venues later. This will involve single craft and dragon boats.

There will be a one-day camp the day after the 2019 Australian Championships for all Aurora divisions.
Information regarding Aurora camp 2 and camp prior to Thailand competition will be circulated later.
