Purpose

This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge required to be a competent operator of warping machines for warp knitting, able to operate warping equipment for warp preparation. It is for new trainees to the industry or current employees who have not had a formal structured qualification available to them.

The qualification is comprised of industry specific credits that recognise the necessary trade skills and knowledge, as well as complementary knowledge and skills in health and safety and workplace practice.

It can provide a useful foundation for people who wish to progress to one or more of the following: the National Certificate in Industrial Machine Knitting (Knitted Goods Production) (Level 3) [Ref: 0839]; the National Certificate in Industrial Machine Knitting (Service and Repair) (Level 3) [Ref: 0840]; or the National Diploma in Industrial Machine Knitting (Level5) [Ref: 1552].

Version 4

Version 4 was issued following a review of the Industrial Machine Knitting qualifications.

Changes to structure and content

  • Generic standards 543, 497, 1277, and 9677 were removed from the qualification and substituted with the industry specific standards 17914 and 17915.
  • Standard 19841 was added to the qualification.
  • The credit total for the qualification has increased from 52 credits to 57 credits.

Previous versions of the qualification

Version 3 was issued following a revision to update details of reviewed standards and the credit total increased from 50 to 52.
