JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:Child Development Center Director

CLASSIFICATION:Full-time Exempt

REPORTS TO:Director of Community Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or an Associate Degree in Child Development with two years related experience and/or training. Two years (3120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center, one year of college credits with 10 semester or equivalent quarter hours in courses relating directly to child care and/or child development, and proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university until two years of college credits have been achieved. A total of 18 hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development is required to be obtained within the two years of college credit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision of Program

a.Day to day supervision and monitoring of all day care services.

b.Advises and consults with Child Development staff on a regular basis.

c.Reviews and authorizes staff work schedules.

d.Enrolls all children served.

e.Leads periodic staff meetings.

f.Develops and maintains accurate child records according to YSB and licensing policy.

g.Acts as advisor to TKP parent organization.

h.Prepares and submits facility budget to fiscal department when requested. Work with the agency’s fiscal manager to achieve a workable budget.

Supervision of Daycare Staff

a.Interviews applicants for all positions at daycare.

b.Prepares orientation and schedule for new TKP staff.

c.Observes staff on the job on a regular basis.

d.Evaluates all staff in accordance with YSB personnel policies and job standards.

e.Facilitates on-going staff development and training.

f.Advises, directs, and works with TKP staff on professional and program development, planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

g.Confers with teaching staff within classroom meetings regarding child’s behavioral or learning

problems, and recommends methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging

learning experiences.

Direct Services to Children

a.Available as a resource or substitute to staff as needed.

b.Attends to any/all crisis, emergency, and unusual incidents.

c.Makes referrals for services on behalf of children/families where indicated.

d.Assesses child/family/cultural needs

Program Development and Administration

a.Ensure supplies or materials are available and seeks supplies, materials from agency administration to ensure an adequate level of classroom activity is maintained.

b.Reviews and revises all program curriculum on an annual basis with staff, and when needed.

c.Maintains the order and security of all records.

d.Ensures that the agency resources are utilized efficiently and are available to staff and children.

e.Assumes responsibility for private pay and day care contract billing.

f.Signs checks as needed per YSB procedure.

g.Works within budget approved by Executive Director.

h.Resolves conflict between agency staff, families and outside agency personnel.

i.Represents the agency at public relations, fund raising, or other activities as directed by the Program Coordinator or Executive Director.

j.Actively participates in YSBIV's continuous Quality Improvement program.

k.Reviews and determines co-payments regarding applications from parents for the Department of Human Services Child Care Assistance program. Monitor the Child Care Assistance Program.

Attend trainings pertaining to the Child Care Assistance Program.

l.Reviews and approves lunch menus from contractor. Constructs menus for breakfast and snack

and orders from the Food Bank or purchases from local grocery store. Accounts for the

reimbursement of meals through the Child and Adult Food Program of the Illinois State Board of

Education.

Additional Qualifications:

a.Working knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft office,

Internet and email.

b.Completion of Associate of Child Development and certified in Food Service Sanitation.

Outcomes:

100% of all evaluations of employees be completed on time.

90% of enrollment will be reached for the center.
