Abar refers to all pubs, taverns, hotels, bars and nightclubs where alcohol can be purchased and served on the premises.

Places where alcohol can be purchased to accompany a meal are restaurantsorcafes.Bars, restaurants and cafes areon-licences.

Atoff-licences you can purchase alcohol and take it away (for example, at supermarkets and liquor stores).

Licensed premises are any premises for which a licence to sell alcohol is held. Licensed premises could be a bar, a restaurant, a cafe, a vineyard, a supermarket, a liquor store, part of a festival ground, a club, a theatre, a plane or a party bus.

A club licence can be held byagroup which does not operate for financial gain and has a legal identity (for example, RSAs, sports clubscosmopolitan clubs, voluntary groups and working men’s clubs).

A special licence is given for special events and occasions(for example, a food and wine festival or a wedding).

A liquor ban prohibits the possession or consumption of alcohol for specific days or hours for a defined area.

Licence Conditions are requirements that licensees must meet when selling alcohol. Conditions can be things such as hours of opening, the kinds of beverages able to be sold, the number of servings that could be sold to one person, the availability of food, and the provision of free water.
