WROTHAMROADPRIMARY SCHOOL

ARETHUSA, JUNE 2016

Bedding

Your child will need a duvet cover AND pillow case. Arethusa supply duvets, pillows and bottom sheets only.

Clothing

Your child will need plenty of warm, old clothing, enough to cover the five days. T-shirts and shorts are ideal if the weather is warm, but warm clothing will be needed if the weather is not good. Jeans are not suitable for activities. Tracksuits or lightweight trousers will be needed. Sun hats, sun protection cream, and lip salve are strongly recommended. Please ensure that your child brings a NAMED water bottle with them. Please mark ALL clothing with your child’s name.

Shoes

It is important that the children have a change of shoes. They will need a minimum of three pairs – two suitable for walking and climbing, as well as an old pair of shoes suitable for water activities.

ALL SHOES MUST HAVE A LOW HEEL – NO HIGH HEELED SHOES WILL BE ALLOWED.

Medication

If your child is taking any regular medication this MUST BE CLEARLY LABELLED and handed to Mrs Roscoe on the morning of departure.

Valuables/Cash

Arethusa does have a small gift shop. Any spending money brought will be the responsibility of the individual child. I suggest a maximum of £10.00, which should be in a purse clearly marked with your child’s name. It is inadvisable to bring expensive cameras. IPads, hand-held computer games etc are NOT allowed.

Telephone

The telephone number of Arethusa is 01634 719933but please do not ring unless there is an emergency. Alternatively please phone the school office, 01474 534540, in school hours and we will forward your message. There is no public telephone at Arethusa. Please do not send your child with a mobile telephone.

Sweets

As a school we discourage the children from eating sweets. In the past disputes over sweets and the mess made by wrappers have caused problems. So NO sweets please.

General

The children will also need: 2 large black refuse sacks for dirty/wet laundry!

  • Please bring old clothes which won’t matter when they get wet and muddy, rather than brand new/designer/fashion gear.
  • Mobile phones and other valuables should be left at home.
  • IF A CHILD CANNOT CARRY HIS/HER BAG, THERE IS TOO MUCH IN IT!

PLEASE NOTE: If any child’s behaviour gives cause for concern or puts other children at risk, he/she will be collected by the Headteacher and returned home. I am sure you will understand that this is a necessary precaution and the children will be made aware of their responsibilities. If this course of events becomes necessary you will be contacted beforehand.
