Public Service Announcement Instructions

Greetings from the Department of Safe H2O (DSH2O).

Your mission is to educate the people water related issues. As a team, determine a critical issue and decide which one to develop into a public service announcement.

As a team, decide your roles for this mission. Extra team members will double up as researchers. You will need:

1 Project Manager:
Overseas the project.
Determines direction of PSA.
Selects topic approach.
Approves final script.
Multiple Researcher:
Compiles facts for the PSA.
Finds data to support facts for PSA.
Locates and selects sound effects for PSA.
Delivers sound effects to Recording Expert.
1 Script Writer:
Creates script for voice/actor.
Trains voice/actor for read.
Determines timing for sound and imagery effects. / 1Sound/Visual Effects Specialist:
Works with Researcher and Script Writer to determine needed sound and imagery for PSA.
Researches sounds and imagery to use in PSA
Prepares sounds and imagery for use in PSA.
1 Producer/Editor of Audio or Visual Product
Prepares file for PSA
Produces file for PSA
Edits file for PSA as needed or instructed.
1 Voice/Actor: (not a full time role, to be done by another team mate, may not be needed)
Trains for part.
Completes the read several times to select the best one.
  1. Your goal is to produce a dynamic 60-second radio or 3 minute video Public Service Announcement (PSA) on a water-related issue. Determine who your audience will be and create your message for that audience. Create a compelling and passionate message. The message must connect with the listener, transform the listener, and win the commitment of the listener.
  2. The final product must be an mp3 with 96kbps or a video file appropriate for school use.
  3. Use PSARubric.doc for details and expectations.
  4. The PSA will be assessed using PSARubric.doc
  5. The team with the most points at the end wins the event.
  6. Whenever you need help, check with your superior before asking the Professor (the teacher) to teach you what to do. When the professor is called upon to teach, 1 point is deducted from the team score as payment to the Professor.
  7. You have five minutes for planning and setting up year team to start the activity. Once the exercise begins, you must strictly adhere to your role (the success of the exercise depends on that adherence).
