Dr Wilkinsonis currently away on maternity leave. She will be returning, on a part time basis, in Summer 2005.
Dr Clare Earnshawis covering as Dr Wilkinson’s locum during this period, and we all wish her a warm welcome!
We are sorry to announce thatour senior partner Dr Tebbis retiring at the end of March 2005. Dr Tebb joined the practice in 1973 and has built up long-standing relationships with many of our patients. As he has now reached the NHS retirement age of 60, he is retiring on the grounds of good health!! He will be sorely missed by all at Washway Road Medical Centre, but we would like to wish him all the best for a happy retirement!
We have two new GPs who are joining Washway Road Medical Centre as part-time partners. They will be starting late spring 2005. You may remember Dr Kate Howard as she was here in 2002 as a GP Registrar! Dr Graham Fergusonis also joining us from a practice in Timperley. He has previously worked in Cheadle and Oldham, so his face may be familiar to some of you! / Co-Proxamol alert
The painkiller, Co-Proxamol is being withdrawn, as reported on the national news. This is because of links to around 400 accidental and intentional fatal overdoses per year. Co-Proxamol, used by thousands for conditions such as back pain, will be gradually phased out by the end of the year.
Patients do not need to come off the drug yet, and should discuss their treatment with their GPatYOUR NEXT ROUTINE APPOINTMENT.
Concern about Celecoxib (also known as Celebrex capsules)
You may already be aware from the news, that some concern has been raised about Celecoxib capsules. There is no need for alarm or immediate urgency. If you take this medication, we do need to discuss different medication options with you though. Please continue to take your capsules as normal and make a routine appointmentwith your USUAL doctor.

Why does my GP sometimes ask to see me before I can have my repeat prescription?
From time to time your doctor will want to review you and your medication. This review date will appear on your prescription re-order form. Please note that this review is required even though you may be under the care or supervision of a consultant elsewhere, e.g. at a hospital. As the GPs at Washway Road Medical Centre are the ones who issue the prescriptions, they are responsible for your medication review.
If your review is overdue you may not be able to get any more medicine until you come in for your medication review. Please book an appointment for review around the date printed on the bottom of your repeat order form. If your review date is due – but you think you may have already had a review at another appointment, please ring and ask reception – they will be able to check with the doctor and confirm whether you need to come in.

We Need Your Help!

Last summer we carried out a patient survey. This was to give us some feedback about how our patients rate the service we give.

We have now had opportunity to review the results.

Would you be interested in joining in a discussion about the results to try and improve our service? If so, we’d value the contributions of a range of patients.

Please complete the form below, and hand it in at Reception. Alternatively, you can register your interest on our website – We will then contact you in due course.

Many thanks!
