Roll up for your Flu Vaccination

The flu jab is offered to people in at-risk groups, who are at a greater risk of developing serious complications from flu. It offers protection from flu for up to 1 year. Please ask at reception to see if you are eligible for a flu jab.

We are holding 2 walk in clinics this year on:

Saturday 8th October @ 8.30am -12noon

Tuesday 11th October @ 2.00pm – 4pm

Alternatively you can make an appointment, please ask at reception.

Free Home Sight Tests

Healthcall Optical Services provide houseboundpatients the opportunity to have a free NHS sight test in the comfort of their own home.

Having a sight test can detect glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes and age-related macular degeneration. Health outcomes of eye disease are significantly better if detected and treated early and preventing visual impairment can prevent falls and improve quality of life.

We held our first patient participation group meeting on 14th July 2011 which was a great success. The group is a great way for patients and the Practice to work together to improve services and promote health. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please email the Practice Manager at the address below.

Breast Cancer Campaign

On Friday 28th October it is ‘wear it pink day’ all staff will be making a donation of £2 to wear pink. If you would like to make a contribution there will be a collection box on reception. All monies raised will go to the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Digital Switchover

Your TV signal will be changing in September 2011. Analogue television services will be switched off and the whole of West Yorkshire will be served by a digital signal. It will mean viewers will have a greater choice of channels but it will also provide a better service for those who are partially sighted or have hearing difficulties.

The Switchover Help Scheme can help you convert your TV to digital if you are:

  • Aged 75 or over, or
  • Get or could get Disability Living Allowance, Constant Attendance Allowance or Mobility Supplement, or
  • Have lived in a care home for six months or more, or
  • Are registered blind or partially sighted.

The Community Physiotherapy service provides physiotherapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation during or following illness, surgery or injury. The clinics can be accessed by a referral from your doctor.

Wednesday 12th October

Wednesday 16th November

Please remember we will close at 12noon on the day of training and re-open the following day at 8.00am. If you need a Doctor in an emergency please telephone 371011.

SMS Text Messaging Service

From the 1st April 2011 we started providing an SMS Text Messaging Service which reminds you of your appointment the day before it is due. If you wish to be included in this service please provide us with your mobile telephone number. If you do not wish to be included in this service then you must inform a member of staff so that your medical record can be updated.

Online Appointment Booking

Have a look at our website you can book your appointment. You will need a unique ID and password which can be obtained from reception.

We have recently updated our online appointments to give patients more choice of appointments available to book. Please note that your choice of appointments will be with a GP only, this facility is not available for Practice Nurse appointments.

Please tell us if you think we can improve on any of our online services, feedback, good or bad is always welcome.

Repeat Prescriptions

Please remember to allow 2 working days for your repeat prescription to be processed. If there is a note from the doctor when you receive your repeat prescription, e.g. you need to have a blood test, blood pressure check or to make an appointment for any other reason, then you need to take action before your next prescription is due. It is important to have any tests necessary or any check ups with the doctor or nurse, as it may be that your medication needs to be changed. Failure to do this may result in you being without any medication the following month.

Open Day

Our recent open day was a great success. If there are any topics you would like to see at our open day next year, please forward your suggestions to the Practice Manager.

Congratulations to the winner of our colouring competition.
