VISITING PROGRAMME 1

LOCATIONS– Nature Park Papuk, Eco Centre Zlatna Greda, Nature Park Kopački rit, Baranja regionin Croatia;Danube-Drava National Park and Beda-Karapancsain Hungary

DURATION – 3 DAYS

PROGRAMME CAN BE ORGANISED AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR(RECOMMENDED PERIOD: APRIL-OCTOBER)

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT – depending on season and weather conditions: appropriate (multi-layer, waterproof) clothes and shoes, mosquito repellent.

PROGRAMME:

DAY 1

Arrival to Nature Park Papuk, introduction to the Park’s sights and programme. Hiking on the Jankovac-Kneževa Voda mountain trail. Throughout the entire course of the trail you will be surrounded by beautiful oaks and a beech forest, abundant flora and fauna and numerous rock outcrops. Upon arrival to Kneževa Voda, you can rest and have a meal at the new mountaineer’s shelter Kneževa Voda or in the shade of beeches next to a source of drinking water, surrendering yourself to the woodland magic of Papuk. On your return to Jankovac, you can take a tour of the educational “Count’s Trail” and the biggest waterfall in Slavonia – Skakavac. Dinner and bedtime.

DAY 2

Breakfast and departure to Kopački rit and Eco Centre Zlatna Greda. Introduction to the history of “pustara” (former cattle breeding area) Zlatna Greda, work of the Eco Centre and the natural and cultural sights of Baranja and Kopački rit. Departure towards the Danube. Guide instructions and start of a canoeing tour on the Danube and its branches in Kopački rit. Halfway through we will be welcomed by one of the last remaining natural sand islands on the Danube – Siga, where we can take a break to recollect our impressions and gather strength for the next section. Canoe tour finishes at Vemeljski dunavac and is followed by a return trip to Eco Centre Zlatna Greda. Optionally, test out your skills and abilities at the Eco Centre’s adrenaline park or walk on the education & adventure trail “Treasure of the Swamp”. Dinner and bedtime.

DAY 3

Breakfast and departure toward Danube-Drava National Park. Arrival to the White Stork Museum in Kölked, where you will learn interesting facts about white storks (nesting, migration, dietary habits). This is followed by a canoeing tour on the Külső-Béda side-branch. With a bit of luck, you will encounter interesting specimens of the wetland’s wildlife – the grey stork, common kingfisher and white-tailed eagle. The programme continues with a presentation of traditional fishing methods on the Boki-Danube side-branch. Afterwards, you can enjoy a delicious fish stew, and the dinner is followed by a return trip.
