VISITATION POLICY

It is recommended new students to be at the Clarinda Academy a minimum of 30 Days before an on-campus visit occurs. However, on-campus visitation May occur at any time during your stay at the Clarinda Academy, when properly Scheduled, unless there is a court order prohibiting the parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) from visitation.

To Schedule a Visit

  1. Visitors may contact the Clarinda Academy to schedule on Monday-Wednesday (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.) prior to the weekend of the visit. During scheduling visitors will receive a code number for the visit
  1. No changes can be made to the visit appointment after 5:00 P.M.on Wednesday

prior to the weekend of the visit

  1. If the visit needs to be cancelled, please call the Clarinda Academy as soon as possible.
  1. Only the people who have been approved and whose names appear on the visit appointment list will be allowed to visit. No additions or substitutions will be made the day of the visit.
  1. The students referring worker and/or placement worker must approve visitors.
  1. Visits will occur Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. You may visit both days if you wish; however your visit must be scheduled as such.
  1. Visitors must check in at Switchboard in the Southview Building before proceeding to the visit.
  1. Visitors should park in the Southview parking lot.
  1. Visitors should not arrive on campus more than 15 minutes before their scheduled visit, if they do they will be ask to leave. Upon returning they will need to check back in at designated time, also, visitors who are arriving after 1:00 P.M. need to call and explain why they are going to be late, therefore promptness is a necessity.
  1. Visitors who are unable to provide the code number will not be allowed to visit. This process is in place to ensure the safety and security of our students.
  1. A maximum of five visitors will be allowed to visit during one session, and any of the five visitors leaving the designated visitation area will not be allowed to come back to the visit. The visitors at that time will need to leave the campus. If the scheduled visit of the immediate family consists of more than the maximum number of visitors permitted at one time, they will need to take turns, and any extra visitors will need to leave campus.
  1. No one under 21 years of age will be permitted to visit without the supervision of a parent/legal guardian.
  1. Visitors are encouraged to abide by all campus norms.
  1. Alcohol, drugs, and the use of tobacco are not permitted on campus. Visitors suspected of being under the influence, bringing or using these items on campus will be asked to leave immediately.
  1. Any item brought to a student by a visitor must be inventoried and approved by staff before given to a student.
  1. Visitors should only bring quantities of food, candy, and beverages that can be consumed during the visit. Anything left over must be taken home with the visitor or thrown away after the visit. These items cannot be stored on the dorms for future use or be given to others.
  1. If visitors bring money for a student fund account they must give it directly to the staff member supervising the visitation. Students neither need nor are allowed to have money in their possession on campus.
  1. Off campus visits are permitted to those students that currently possess their Eagle status.
  1. Off campus visits must be requested at the time of scheduling. The Parent/Legal Guardian must be present during the off-campus visit. Staff members from the student's dorm must give final approval the day of the visit in order for the student to leave campus.
