Vacation Week Programs at the

Boys & Girls Club Of Cape Cod

Wondering what to do with your kids this Christmas vacation?The Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod will be open during the December vacation weekfrom Tuesday through Fridayfrom 8:30 am until 5:30 pm for children age 6 and in first grade, through to 8th grade, with regular programs help at the Club House free for members and $5 daily for non-members.

“This is a great chance for non-members to come in and see what the Club is all about!” said Ruth Provost, the Club’s executive director. “We are also going tohonor the membership card of any child visiting the Cape from another Boys & Girls Club, but any visiting child’s parents or guardians must fill out a membership form for us so wehave emergency information.”

In addition to the programs run daily at the Clubhouse, the Boys & Girls Club will be running field trips every day during the vacation week. Extra fees will be charged for the field trips and parent permission slips and membership forms must be filled out prior to a child going on a trip. A child will not be put on the list for a trip until all paperwork is complete and the fees paid. Scholarships for trips are available on a limited basis with proof of need.

The trips are as follows:

Tuesday - Bowling & Arcade at Ryan Family Amusements in South Yarmouth. The bus will be leaving the Club at 9:45am and returning at 3:00pm. Cost is $12 per member. All members attending must bring a packed lunch and if they choose extra money for the arcade.

Wednesday - Harwich Junior Theater to see Madeline's Christmas. Cost is $18 per child and the bus will be leaving at 12:30 and returning at 5:00pm. Children should eat lunch before leaving!

Thursday - Laser Tag at Balls 2 the Wall in Hyannis for an awesome afternoon of laser tag! Cost is $22 per member and their parents MUST SIGN A WAIVER FORM TO PARTICIPATE Waiver forms can be found online at the Boys & Girls Club web site. The trip will leave the Club at 10 am and return by 3pm. Children must bring a packed lunch!

Friday - Movies at Mashpee Commons. The movie schedule is not available yet, but it will be G or GP. The fee is $8 if it’s a regular movie and $10 if it’s a 3D movie. The kids will be walking to the movies rain or shine so they need to dress accordingly.

Parents should note that if they sign up for a vacation trip there are no refunds, unless there is a waitlist and the Club is able to move another child into that trip. More information is available at the Club’s website or by calling 508-477-8845.

Membership to the club is only $50 a child for the school year and is open to any Cape Cod child or teen, ages 6-18 and in grades 1-12. Members have full use of the facility whenever it is open for their age group, including use of the high speed Internet computer room, teen programming, free homework help and tutoring when needed, games room activities that change weekly, arts & crafts programming including music, drama, and movie-making, sports leagues, and health and fitness programs in the club's full size gymnasium 2 to 8 or 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition, the Boys & Girls Club is open during school vacation weeks from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm and members in grades 1-8 can spend all day at the Club at those times, with special field trips available for both the younger kids and teen members.
