The Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference Will Bring NATO, FBI and Europol VIPs to Prague

The Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference, which will take place in the Exhibition Grounds in Prague – Letňany from October 17 to October 19, 2012,has undergone a major shift, from an event the sole purpose of which was a contract-signing platform to an event which introduces new topics and issues not just in the military field, but also in the areas of protection of critical infrastructure and cyberspace. The fair will remain a presentation of top-notch defence technologies and an important destination of businessmen from every corner of the world, but it will also bring a new added value, as it will attract people who set trends in the North Atlantic Alliance and national armies to Prague.

“We have abandoned the concept of a traditional fair and will instead concentrate on creating an event with a clear added value for both exhibitors and visitors –we will bring to Prague top representatives of key military organizations and national armies, whom they cannot see at other events, and even if they can, they don’t have a chance of meeting or talking to them,” is how Jan Sajdl, FSEC General Manager, explains the conceptual change. Prague will thus be an attractive venue where exhibitors, businessmen and commercial traders can interact with top representatives of armies and state administrations.

Representatives of current attractive markets will also come

The fair attempts to focus on currently developing markets and countries that plan to invest into military equipment and are thus attractive for the exhibitors.

The confirmed participants in this year’s Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference include, inter alia, leading representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance, for example the Deputy Commander of the Allied Command Transformation, Director of the NATO Standardization Agency, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Operations, representatives of new agencies, NSPA (formerly NAMSA) and NCIA (formerl NC3A), Director of the European Defence Agency, Deputy Director of Europol, a representative of FBI and Deputy Ministers or State Secretaries of defence from Albania, Hungary, Serbia, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Slovakia, Romania and South Africa.

Hackers will stage an attack directly on the site

The other principal objective of the new concept is to bring speakers who would, rather than discussing the past, focus on new trends, visions, and also threats that military experts and the civilian sector will have to deal with in the years to come. “The 2012 Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference will be complemented by several conferences and roundtables that will be attractive for all who want to know the current most discussed global topics,” Jan Sajdl explains.

The greatest accompanying event will be the two-day “Future of Cyber” conference, co-organized by AFCEA, which will deal – as its very name suggests – with issues of protection against cyber attacks and all related matters, including protection of information and personal data and relevant legislation. Under the auspices of Deloitte, a live demonstration of a hacker attack and available defence options that can be used against it will take place directly at the conference.

The importance of this year’s event is enhanced by the fact that the Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference has been chosen by 25 military periodicals that are members of the European Military Press Association (EMPA) as the venue of their annual meeting.

Business companies will undoubtedly find their way to seminars and workshops that will try to find answers to questions the companies have to cope with, especially when dealing with foreign countries. The agenda will include US regulations pertaining to trade in military equipment and materiel, granting of licenses for Czech industrial enterprises, or issues related to the registration of arms.

The last day is reserved for the public

Defence equipment and hardware buffs among the general public can visit the exhibition on the last day, October 19. There will be technologies and products of several dozens of companies from more than 30 countries of the world on display, including the complete product portfolio and innovations of Česká zbrojovkaor dynamic demonstrations of Excalibur Army, a Czech company trading in heavy military equipment. You will be able to see special units using Musado hand-to-hand combat techniques in action, or drill demonstrations performed by the Castle Guard.
