McLean, Va. -- USA TODAY Education has awarded the Entrepreneurship Faculty of the Year Award for 2006 toMichael Boyd, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Business Administration at Owensboro Community and Technical College in Owensboro, Kentucky. Boyd created and implemented the Team Leadership Certificate (TLC), an innovative, eight-course program, which helps meet his college’s Associates in Business Administration degree requirements.

The award was created to recognize instructors who distinguish themselves through innovative and significant contributions to business and entrepreneurial learning.

Boyd’s approach, a hybrid of interactive e-learning and classroom-based instruction, allows time-challenged students to work through the curriculum at their own pace, and his sports theme keeps them engaged and energized. Diane Barrett, vice president of USA TODAY Education, said, “He recognizes that one must use multiple platforms and create a sense of relevancy in order to capture the interest and minds of the students.” Boyd will be present to receive his award today at the Fourth Annual NACCE Conference in Orlando.
