TheGSKIrelandIMPACTAwardsaredesignedtorecogniseandrewardcommunity-basedcharitiesthataredoingexcellentworktoimprovepeople’shealthandwellbeingwithintheRepublicofIreland.
ThisisthesecondyearoftheGSKIrelandIMPACTAwards,anexpansionoftheGSKIMPACTAwardsintheUKandUSAthathavebeenrunningfornearly 20 years.
BenefitsofwinningaGSKIrelandIMPACTAward
–Uptofivewinnerswillreceiveupto€10,000inunrestrictedfunding.
–Up to fiverunnersupwillreceive€2,000 inunrestrictedfunding.
–Theawardsprovideorganisationswithaqualitymarktouseonwebsites,emailsignaturesandstationary.
–Winningorganisationswillbevisitedbyaprofessionalphotographerand film crew toprovidethem witha short film and photography for self promotion.
–WinnerswillalsohavetheopportunitytonetworkandlearnfromothercharitableorganisationsinIreland.
–Youdonotneedtopresentanewproject,and youdecidehowtospendtheawardmoney.
–TheGSKIrelandIMPACTwinnerswillbepresentedtheirawardsataceremonyinDublininOctober2016.
WhocanapplyforaGSKIrelandIMPACT Award?
Applicantsmustbe:
–Aregisteredcharitybythedeadlineforapplications.Theorganisationmustalsohaveexistedforaminimumofthree yearsbythisdate.Wemayaskforacopyof yourconstitutiontoconfirmthis.
–LocatedandregisteredintheRepublicofIreland.
–TargetingcommunityhealthneedsinIreland.Communitycanbedefinedasageographicalcommunityoracommunityofinterest.
–Abletopointtoatrackrecordofachievementincommunityhealthissues.
–Smallormediumsizedorganisationswithtotalannualincomebetween€20,000and€1,000,000asshowninyourmostrecentaccounts.
–Previous Runners Up of a GSK Ireland IMPACT Award are welcome to apply.
InadditionthefollowingorganisationsareNOTeligible:
–Previous winners of a GSK Ireland IMPACT Award within a 3 year period of winning. You may apply again after this time.
–Organisationsprincipallyconcernedwithbroadsocialwelfarework.Youmustbeabletodemonstrateclearlyyourimpactonyourtargetcommunity’shealth.

Criteriausedtoassessapplications
AuniquefeatureoftheGSKIrelandIMPACTAwardsisthattheyrecogniseexcellenceinexisting work.Wedonotseektofundnewprojectsandwe willnotshortlistanapplicationwhichonlyfocusesonaparticularproject.Thejudgingis basedonthework ofthewholeorganisationandwillfocusonexcellenceinthesixareas ofIMPACT.Thejudgeswillbelookingforevidenceof:
Innovation
Leadership,creativityandinitiativeinaddressingcurrentchallengesinhealthcareaccessanddelivery.
Management
Efficientuseofresources;qualityofmanagementprocesses;equalityofopportunity;clearobjectivesandplans;strengthandfinancialeffectivenessoftheorganisation.
Partnership
Workingeffectivelywithothers(members,users,voluntary,privateandpublicsectorpartnersetc);willingnesstoshare‘bestpractice’andtolearnfromothers.

Applicantsareremindedthatallfiguresandstatisticsusedtosupporttheirapplicationshouldbereferencedanddated.
Theselectionprocess
Ashortlistingpanelwillreviewalltheapplicationsandmarkthem againsttheIMPACTcriteria.Upto10organisationswillbeshortlisted.Inlate May 2016 allshortlistedorganisationswillbe contacted about the next assessment phase.You will only be notified if your organisation is shortlisted.
FinaljudgingtakesplaceinSeptember2016byanexperiencedpanelincommunityhealthandhealthrelatedissues,toselecttheGSKIrelandIMPACTAwardwinners.The judge’s decision is final.
Aprofessionalphotographerand film crew willvisitthewinningorganisationsinmidSeptember2016andapressreleasewillbeproduced.Applicantsareremindedthatanyprogrammeoractivitystatedintheapplicationshouldbecurrentandongoingasthismaybeinvestigatedduring assessment and filming.

TheGSKIrelandIMPACTAwardsCeremony
GSKIrelandIMPACTAwardwinnerswillbepresentedwiththeirawardsataceremonyin DublininOctober2016.Withroughly100guestsinattendance,itprovidesanexcellentopportunitytoshowcaseyourworkandraiseyourprofile.
Howtoapply
1.StudytheseguidelinestocheckthatyourorganisationiseligibletoapplyforaGSKIrelandIMPACTAwardandcanmeettheIMPACTcriteria.
2.Completetheapplicationformavailablefrom:
–Intheapplicationformyou willbeaskedtonominatetworefereestosupport yourapplication.Therefereeswillonlybecontactedif youareshortlistedandtheywillbeaskedtocompleteareferenceform.Refereesshould beindependentandshouldnotbeavolunteer,currentManagementCommitteemember/Trustee,afamilymemberorinreceiptofagrantfrom yourorganisation.Youcannominateauseroftheservicesprovidedbyyourorganisationtobeoneofyourrefereesifyouwish.Thestandingofreferees,aswellastheamountofdetailwithintheirreferenceswillbetakenintoaccountinthejudging.
