A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Cass Ross Walden.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Cass Ross Walden, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Cass Ross Walden was born on February 6, 1903, a native of Monroe County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Metcalfe County, and he traversed these earthly bounds on November 19, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Cass Ross Walden was the loving son of the late Kirk and Bertha Strode Walden, and he was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Walden; he was the devoted husband of Jessie Sawyer Walden; he was the loving father of a son, James Ross Walden of Edmonton, and a daughter, Wanda Burness of Rainier, Oregon; and he was the proud grandfather of three granddaughters, Jamie Gains of Dallas, Texas, Sara Evans of Rainier, Oregon, and Ann Walden Diamond of New Orleans, Louisiana, and four grandsons, Billy, John, and Tom Burness, all of Portland, Oregon, and Ross Walden of Bowling Green; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Danielle, and Braden Evans of Rainier, Oregon; and he was the loving brother of a sister, Pauline Klopp, and four brothers, David Walden, Bill Walden, Boyd Walden, and Herald Walden; and

WHEREAS, Cass Ross Walden will be remembered as an active and involved citizen, and a highly esteemed member of the Metcalfe County community where he was a member of Edmonton Baptist Church; he practiced law for thirty-two years, he served as circuit judge for Barren and Metcalfe counties for twenty years, and he served on the Public Service Commission for ten years; and

WHEREAS, Cass Ross Walden served his constituents from the thirty-seventh Legislative District with pride in the House of Representatives during the 1942 Session of the General Assembly, where he also served as House minority leader; and he ably represented the ninth Senatorial District during the 1944 and 1946 Sessions of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Cass Ross Walden has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of this honorable body do hereby express our profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Cass Ross Walden, and extend to his family our most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Cass Ross Walden.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Jessie Sawyer Walden, 407 Muncie Court, Edmonton, Kentucky 42129.
