UDM THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES 44TH SEASON

DETROIT: The UDM Theatre Company proudly announces it’s 44th season. Bringing together a group of diverse, passionate and heart warmingly humorous plays, the 44th season features three main stage plays and one musical in which two are Michigan premieres.

According to the Chair of the Performing Arts Department Melinda Pacha, “the 44th season continues to integrate the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and social development of our students and community.” The Theatre Company “always seeks to bring theatre that entertains, provokes, and encourages dialogue.”

Beginning the season is Mark St. Germain’s “The Best of Enemies”. Deep friendships can be found and nurtured in the most unlikely of characters in the worst of circumstances.

The Theatre Company marks the opening of the holiday season with Joe Landry’s “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”. Based on Frank Capra’s classic film, Landry infuses this Christmas staple with new magic and excitement. It is sure to touch your heart and create new memories surrounding this timeless classic.

Overwhelming grief and the fragility of the human condition are presented in Samuel D. Hunter’s “The Whale.” This new human drama will pull at your heart and challenge your beliefs. Closing the season we bow to the young and the young at heart with the musical adaptation of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”.

“We have an exciting season planned and we want you to play your part with us!” states Pacha.

The Theatre Company offers a Post-Show Discussion following the first Sunday performance of each production focused on social justice themes found in each show. UDM’s College of Liberal Arts and Education’s Alumni Council partner with the theatre to support an Afterglow following the first Saturday performance of every production.

“These events at the theatre allow our patrons, alumni and community to network” according to Greg Grobis, Director of Marketing and Management for the Theatre Company. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other Arts minded supporters while supporting the Arts in Detroit.”
