TUNE INTO FCCLA STATE CHAPTER EVENT

The Tune into FCCLA Competitive Event is a State Event conducted at the NJ FCCLA Fall Leadership Connection. It is an individual or team event that allows participants to develop an FCCLA marketing project usinga video to promote membership and public relations.

NEW JERSEY CORE CURRICULUM STANDARDS

EVENT CATEGORIES

Junior: Participants in grades 6-9

Senior: Comprehensive participants in grades 10-12

Occupational:Participants in an occupational program in grades 10-12

ELIGIBILITY

1.Participation is open to any affiliated FCCLA school.

2.Each school may submit one (1) entry in this event.

3.An entry is defined as one (1) individual participant or one (1) team of no more than three (3) participants.

4.An event category is determined by a member’s grade in school and type of Family and Consumer Sciences program.

REGULATIONS

  1. A school’s Tune Into FCCLA video entry must:

A. be 120-180 seconds in length

B. use home or school video equipment.

C. utilize interaction among various media and technologies.

D. be planned, conducted, and edited by the participant(s)only.

  1. The video must be uploaded to YouTube by November 16, 2016with its privacy settings shared onlywith the “NJ FCCLA Website”YouTube accountassociated . The description of the video must include:
  • Participant(s) Name(s)
  • Chapter Name
  • School
  • Event Name (Tune into FCCLA)
  • Event Category
  • Video Title
  1. Participant(s) must refrain from using name(s) and other personal identifying information in the video.
  1. Participant(s) are restricted from using copyrighted music without written permission/consent from the copyright owner.
  1. Participant(s) must focus the video on FCCLA, its mission and purposes, and what FCCLA means to them in order to promote membership and public relations. The video project should be utilized for a similar purpose to the following examples:
  1. FCCLA chapter promotion to school and community.
  2. Membership campaign in school.
  3. Recruitment of non-participating area schools.
  1. Participant(s) must submit an e-mail to with the following documents attached:
  1. A Project Identification Page
  2. A Planning Process Sheet(found on the NJ FCCLA website,
  3. A Story Map (See the format provided)

7.The body of the e-mail must include the following:

  • Name of Participant
  • Chapter Name
  • School
  • Event Name (Financing Your Future)
  • Event Category

8.The materials must be e-mailed to and received electronically to the NJ FCCLA Headquarters by November 18th for judging.The subject of the e-mail should be Tune into FCCLA. The video must be uploaded to YouTube by November 16th for judging.

9. Participant(s) must follow the FCCLA emblem guidelines (please refer to theGuide to Promoting FCCLA on the national FCCLA website,

10. All submitted projects become property of New Jersey FCCLA and may be presented at the State Leadership Conference.

TUNE INTO FCCLA SPECIFICATIONS

Electronic File

Participant(s) will submit an e-mail to , which includes the attached project identification page, FCCLA planning process summary page, and story map. The e-mail must include the subject, Tune into FCCLA, and in the body of the e-mail include the name of participant, chapter name, school, event name (Tune into FCCLA), and event category.

Project Identification Page / One 8½”x 11” page on plain paper, participants must include participant(s) name(s), chapter name, school, event name, event category, and video title.
Planning Process Sheet / Explain how each step of the Planning Process was used to plan and create each aspect of the movie.
Story Map / Each entry must develop a one-page story map that outlines the message and production of the movie. Be specific and summarize the element of the story and production of the movie

Video

Create a membership recruitment video that your chapter can use to promote FCCLA.

Format / The format for the videomust be YouTube compatible.
Length of Time / The video should be 120-180 seconds in length.
YouTube Upload / Each YouTube must be private and identified by the following information: participant(s) name(s), chapter name, school,event name (Tune into FCCLA), event category and video title.
Message / The video must be based around FCCLA, its mission and purposes, and what it means to the participant(s). It should be creative with a clear and powerful message.
Image / The video must accurately convey the image of FCCLA as a youth leadership organization. Take into consideration appropriate attire, body language and environment.
Production Quality / The video should be of high quality in terms of all production and editing elements.
