DeColores, and Blessings to All,

Once Again GOD has truly blessed this Emmaus Community during our Fall Walks. The men and women who participated in Men’s Walk #104 and Women’s Walk #105, whether it was their original walk, or they were a team member serving humbly time and time again, could witness first hand the Holy Spirit flowing freely throughout the weekend. There are many obstacles and situations that occur during the weekend of most Emmaus Walks, that make it challenging for the team to deal with, but GOD always prevails. And to those special people who stepped up to the challenge during these two walks, we truly THANK YOU!!!

What a warm and wonderful blessing it was to see so many friends from our Emmaus Family turn out in support of the Fall Walks. You filled the seats and prayed for each candidate at Send Off. You prayed for each pilgrim and held a candle for them at Candlelight. And you listened to them intently at Closing as they shared their hearts, and welcomed them into their E-Town Emmaus family. May GOD continue to bless you all is my prayer.

Next up, we have Chrysalis #40 starting next Saturday Nov 3rd – Nov 5th. The Send Off will be at the Campground, starting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning and we need everyone, who can, to come out in support of this great experience for our youth. The Candlelight Service for Chrysalis will be at Memorial UMC on Sunday night Nov 4th, starting at 8:00 p.m., so PLEASE come out and let them see their little bit of Heaven as they come through those doors. Last, but not least, will be the Closing for Chrysalis #40 and this will also take place at the Campground on Monday evening starting at 5:00 p.m.; PLEASE NOTE that this is a change in location for Chrysalis Closings!!! Please keep Eric, Jennifer, their Team, and of course all of the youth who will experience GOD during this weekend in your prayers as they finalize preparation for the upcoming weekend, and of course PRAY-PRAY-PRAY.

So don’t forget; Come to the Campground Saturday Morning at 9:00 a.m. for Chrysalis Sendoff and then Saturday Night let’s meet again at Memorial UMC at 7:00 p.m. for the November Gathering. We will Praise GOD and Worship together and those Pilgrims just coming off Walks #104 & #105 will have another opportunity to share what is happening during their Fourth Days. I would to thank Steve Cutter, Walk #104 and Judy Boone, Walk #105, and their Teams for their leadership and for fulfilling the Servants Role that GOD chose for them during these Walks. May GOD bless you all!!!

In closing, I have been blessed to have the distinct pleasure of announcing two of GOD’S Faithful Servants who will lead the upcoming walks next Spring. Congratulations to Butch Bishop and Sheila Henson, the Lay Directors that GOD has chosen to lead Walks #106 &#107 during March 2008. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

I hope to see each of you at the Send-off for Chrysalis #40 and the November Gathering this Saturday. May GOD continue to bless you and keep you, is my prayer!!!

In Christ’s Love,

Larry McKenzie

Note from the Editor

By Ron Newhouse

Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." (John 21:15 NRSV Bible)

A man went to see the doctor for his annual physical exam. When he came home later that afternoon, his wife asked him, "What did the doctor say?" He answered in a gruff voice, "He told me that if I want to stay healthy, I have to eat what I don't want, drink what I don't like, and do what I'd rather not do!"

Jesus tried to get the disciples to do the same thing. The disciples are sitting around a charcoal fire now. The disciples recognize their risen Lord, but still they are disconcerted by the recent chain of events. While they are lost in their thoughts the resurrected Christ takes some bread and breaks it and gives it to them. Then also the fish. Then he turns to Simon Peter and asks one of the most famous questions in the Scripture, "Simon Peter, do you love me?" Three times Christ asks Simon Peter this question--once for each time Peter denied him. "Lord, you know I love you," Peter replies. And after each reply, Jesus instructs Simon Peter to feed his lambs and then his sheep. This is Christ's way of focusing Simon Peter on his real mission in the world.

Go with me back to those earliest days when Jesus first recruited Andrew and Simon. He said he would make them fishers of men. Now he is challenging them to continue that journey on which they first embarked. Not that their prior lives as fishermen was unimportant, but from here on they would have a different kind of calling. Christ was asking them to forget themselves and to center their lives in ministry to others. That is a challenge that Jesus is still offering his disciples today.
