FIRST MEETING: THURSDAY, AUGUST 24th

Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00 – 8:40 am Room 211

**** ALL TEAM MEMBERS FROM LAST YEAR NEED TO REAPPLY ****

The WMS FIRST Lego League Team will be forming in August. We need builders, programmers, researchers and presenters with lots of spirit and cooperative minds that can WORK AS A TEAM!! This application will be the first step of the selection process.Coaches and team project managers will also interview selected students. Final team rosters will be in place by the start of September.

Our team will meet twice a week. Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed near competition time. Attendance will be expected at both meetings (you may need to choose between this team and a sports team or check with your coach to see if it is a problem for you to attend Lego meetings.) We will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8:00 to 8:40 in room 211 from August until mid-December. If our team wins the opportunity to compete at the Super-Regionals or State Championship, our practices may extend into January and February.

The team will research the topics of this year’s Global Challenge, HYDRO DYNAMICS, in order to solve a real-world problem and give a presentation to judges and community members. Students will also share the responsibility of designing and programming a robot to handle many different missions in 2 ½ minutes. Because of the limited time we have to prepare, it is extremely important that all team members be present at meetings and participate in a successful robot and research project.
