TOPIC: Project Graduation

Patriot Parents! There will be an important meeting about Project Graduation on Monday, March 3 @ 5:30 pm in the EVHS cafeteria. Senior parents are needed to quickly plan an event this year and all other parents are welcome to come get an early start for juniors, sophomores, and freshman classes.

TOPIC: Project Second Chance

Students who are completing credits in project second chance, March 6 will be the LAST day to recover credit! Make sure that you are going to rooms 501, 504, or 506 after school to earn your credit.

TOPIC: EVHS Girls Bowling Team

EVHS Girls Bowling Team has advanced to Regionals. They will be competing this Sunday at Mel’s at 11 am. Come and cheer them on!

TOPIC: EVHS Cheer Tryouts

If you are interested in trying out for EVHS cheerleader for the 2014 – 2015 school year please pick up an application from the diamond. There will be a mandatory meeting, which you and a parent must attend at EVHS in the Lecture Hall, 6:30pm on March 3rd or March 6th.

TOPIC: EVHS Students

Students 9th through 11th grade if you have already seen your counselor and was given a schedule for next year it is very important that you get them signed and turned in to Mrs. Lewis now.

TOPIC: Seniors

Hey, Seniors! You only have one more weeks to get your volunteer hours completed AND submitted to Mrs. Scholtz or Mrs. Ray on the English hall. All hours must be complete and submitted by the Friday before spring break to earn the white cord and recognition at graduation.

Remember, you must have 50 hours total for at least two and no more than four locations. Check the printed list outside Mrs. Ray’s room to be sure that your hours have been recorded. No hours submitted after spring break will be recognized.

TOPIC: AP Test

Students interested in taking an AP exam may begin the registration process this week. Each exam cost $89. Registration will be open from Monday, February 24, to Tuesday, March 4. Please see Mrs. Lewis in the counselors’ office to register for the AP exam. A minimum $15 non-refundable deposit is required for each exam. Final payment must be made by April 30, 2014. Please see Mrs. Cantu or Mrs. Lewis if you have any questions about registration.

TOPIC: Literacy

Literary Criticism team members: Our meet is March 29. We only have a few more Wednesdays to discuss and practice! Please meet after school this Wednesday in 501 to take a practice test so that you are prepared for the March 29 competition. Drop by and see Mrs. Scholtz if you will not be able to attend.

TOPIC: 10th Grade Students

To ALL 10th Grade Students that are interested in taking Dual Credit classes with Austin Community College:

If you missed the TSI testing dates this week and are interested in taking Dual credit classes with ACC in 11th grade, you will need to stop by the counselor’s office for the directions to submit an online application and obtain an ACCEID to complete the pre-assessment test. A make-up test date has been scheduled for March 20th and the sign–up sheet for this test is in the counselor’s office. The deadline for the completion of the application process is Tuesday March 4th. Please be aware that the ACC online application process takes at least 2 days to complete.

TOPIC: EVHS Band Annual Spring Mulch Fundraiser

We are now taking orders for the EVHS Band’s 3rd Annual Spring Mulch Fundraiser! Our mulch is 100% organic Texas Hardwood. Each bag covers approximately 4 square feet of yard space – no small bags here! Our mulch is long-lasting and turns over dark to preserve that newly-landscaped look even halfway through a summer drought.

We are offering standard brown, red, and black mulch and will deliver to your doorstep (or wherever else you like) on March 1, 2014. TOPIC: Scholarships – Awards

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS- stop by the counselor’s office to check on new scholarship opportunities.It is very important that you be mindful of all scholarship deadlines. Please don’t miss out on these great scholarship opportunities!

  • The Morrow Family Scholarship: Senior students from the inaugural graduating class at East View High School are invited to apply for a one-time $500 scholarship given in honor of Randy Morrow, a steward of community service. Applicants must be planning to pursue a four-year degree with an emphasis in Parks and Recreation or related major/minor. Applicants must complete the Shared Scholarship Application and required essay. Applications must be complete and submitted in a timely fashion to the counseling office. . Deadline is March 28th.
  • Any seniors planning to major in telecommunications such as math, business, education, technology, engineering and computer science may be eligible for a $1500 a year scholarship from the Texas Telephone Association Foundation. See Mrs. Lewis for details and application. Must be postmarked by March 28th.
  • The Williamson County A&M Club: is offering two scholarships. The applicant’s home address must be in Williamson County. The Foundation scholarship application and additional information can be picked up in the counseling office. The application must be received by April 1st.
