TOPIC: Day of the Dead Night of Hispanic Heritage

Wednesday, November 6th, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. in the EVHS cafeteria will be the 4th annual Day of the Dead Night of Hispanic Heritage. This night will be conducted in Spanish to reach out to the Spanish-speaking community, but all of the East View community is invited to attend this unique cultural event. There will be food, entertainment, and information about credits, scholarships, non-profit organizations, and more. If you can attend, please bring a dish/plate of food to share.

TOPIC: Senior Service Program

Seniors who have enrolled for the senior service program -Remember to get your evaluation forms filled out and returned to Mrs. Scholtz or Mrs. Ray in the English hall. Forms are available on the EVHS website. All hours are due prior to spring break. Sorry, if you did not enroll in the program last year or at the beginning of this year, it is now too late to get credit for hours in this program.

TOPIC: Kiss the Duck Contest!

The FFA chapter will be setting up during lunch with six cans, each with an EVHS teacher or staff member’s name on it. Whichever teacher has the most money donated in their can will have to kiss a real live, full grown duck during the “hunt the hippos” pep rally on Friday, November 8th. This contest is open to students, staff, and anyone else that would love to see one of these great candidates kiss a duck!

TOPIC: Volunteer Opportunities

The therapeutic Riding Center, R.O.C.K., which stands for Ride on Center for Kids, has volunteer opportunities for East View students. If you are interested, please call the center at: (512)930-7625 or go to their web-site: rockride.org.

TOPIC: Class of 2014 Fundraiser

Patriots!!! Our senior sale began this week. We have senior shirts, phone cases, TV raffle and patriot spirit flags. We are available in the cafeteria during all lunches. Come by today! This will be the last large fundraiser for the class of 2014 so make it a good one!

TOPIC: National Honor Society

TOPIC: Boys Soccer Spirit Group

On Tuesday November 5th therewill bea meeting in Mr. Sanchez room 312 for the spirit group for the Boys Soccer team. Meeting time is 8:30. The Beast from the East rises again January 9th!

TOPIC: PatriotMadness

Everyone is invited out to PATRIOT MADNESS, Monday, Nov 11that 6:00, in the EVHS gym.Come out and meet the 2013-14 Patriot Basketball teams.The event is FREE, but if you want to stay and eat with us; tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students for Applebee’s Fajita dinner. Purchase your tickets from Coach White or Coach Deaton by Tuesday, November 5th!

TOPIC: Patriot Boys Basketball

Attention male athletes... If you are interested in being a part of the Patriot boys’ basketball program, we will be having tryouts on Friday, November 8, from 4:15 pm-6:30 pm, and again on Saturday, November 9, from 7 am-10 am. Please make every attempt to make both days of tryouts. If you have any questions, please see Coach White in room A8 or Coach Deaton in room 216.

TOPIC: CTE Seniors

If you are interested in being selected for East View CTE student of the month you need to see Mr. Rystad in room 721A to pick up an application. You only need to fill out the application once and it will be kept on file for further review. This is a great opportunity to showcase your talents and community service to not only East View, but the entire Georgetown Community. Stop by and pick up your application today!

TOPIC: Scholarship Newsletters

Seniors, the November scholarship newsletters are being distributed in your English classes today. One side lists the local scholarship opportunities and the other side, national scholarships. Please do not pass up the opportunity to receive monies for college!

TOPIC: Attention ALL Juniors and Seniors

The Lions of Texas Youth Contests Applications are now available. There are 3 different contests to enter. Detail packets and contest outlines are in the counselor’s office. The deadline is fast approaching so come on in and pick up a packet.

TOPIC: Auto Tech Food Drive

The East View auto tech will be having a food drive starting November 4th through the 22nd. We will have boxes all over the school. Items a person can bring are: boxed or canned goods, no perishable items or anything that would have to be kept warm or cold. All the donations will go to the Caring Place at the end of the month. Do your part today, and help a family!

TOPIC: HOSA

Any students interested in being a member of HOSA need to turn in their completed HOSA application to Mrs. Killen room 321 or Mrs. Prewitt 338 by November 4th. Also $20 dollars for dues is also due by 11/4.Any questions see Mrs. Killen or Mrs. Prewitt.

TOPIC: Driver Education

The next class for driver education will start on November 11th, PM class only. To sign up you will need your parents to contact Mr. Swain at GHS. Also, you will need to have permission to ride the bus from EV to GHS to take this class. All students who have a permit and want to take the driving part of driver ed should also have their parents contact Mr. Swain at GHS.

TOPIC: Enjoy a Short Stack for a Tall Cause

The EVHS Tennis program and boosters invite you to enjoy a full breakfast featuring pancakes, scrambled eggs, egg benedicts, sausage, bacon, hash browns, juice and coffee. Come enjoy this delicious breakfast at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill, 350 South IH 35, on Saturday November 16, 2013 from 8am - 10am. Proceeds benefit the tennis team and their tournament travel in the Spring of 2014. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any Patriot tennis player or at the door on November 16th. Support your tennis team! We'll see you there!!

TOPIC: Reflections Program

Dream, Believe, Inspire! That is the theme of this year's PTSA creative arts Reflections program. All students are eligible to enter this FREE program. The six categories for entries are literature, visual arts, photography, film and video production, dance choreography, and music composition.
