Top Women Culinary Leaders Gather in Charleston

Chef & Television Personality Carla Hall Tabbed as Keynote Speaker

Louisville, KY (Sept. 10, 2015)– More than 250 Dames, top women culinary leaders, are expected to converge in Charleston, “The Culinary Capital of the South,” to experience history and hospitality during the Les Damesd’EscoffierInternational (LDEI) annual conference, Oct. 29 – Nov. 1. Dame Carla Hall, renowned chef, author, entrepreneur, and television co-host of The Chew, will be the keynote speaker. Chef Hall will share insights on the commerce of branding.

LDEI members attending the conference at the Charleston Marriott represent 2,011 women leaders in the food, fine beverage and hospitality fields who are members of the prestigious culinary organization and come from36chaptersacross the US, Canada, Mexico, and London.

Charleston Dames, led by conference co-chairs Jennifer Goldman and Paige Crone, have worked tirelessly for two years to develop a targeted program. Goldman, who is also Chapter president says, “In the interest of fueling knowledge and strengthening our members’ abilities to positively impact women and families in their communities, our chapter has assembled an impressive group of presenters who will address various aspects of professional, personal and chapter growth.” She adds, “Our program includes three days of educational seminars,networking, touring, and tastings—all connected under the conference theme, “Doin’ The Charleston.”

The conference will also include:

·  The Edible South and its foods, African Influence in Lowcountry Cuisine, and Trends in Beverages.

·  The Legacy of Carolina Gold Rice Culture: A Seminar at Middleton Place.

·  A social media skills update and workshops on building a brand and reinventing business skills.

·  Recognition of Grande Dame Joan Nathan, M.F.K. Fisher women’s food writing awards, and inspiring Green Tables philanthropic projects.
