RE:2012 USTA MissouriValley10U Section Endorsed Events & Schedule

On behalf of the 10U Task Force, please find information re: 2012 10 and Under Section Endorsed Events and Schedule.

General Information

  • All 10U Section Events will be played on a 60' Court using the Orange Ball
  • Non-elimination formats ( i.e. compass draw, round robin ) will be used to provide the optimum environment for players
  • All format recommendations follow Friend At Court
  • There will be no MV Section Rankings for 10U
  • Working toward minimal travel for players, the section has been divided as follows:
  • North being defined as Heart of America, Iowa, Nebraska South being defined as Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, STL
  • East being defined as Heart of America, Iowa, Missouri, STL  West being defined as Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma

District Endorsement & Competition

  • Each district will conduct its own selection process to identify players to compete in the section team event.
  • Districts are encouraged to offer other sanctioned and non-sanctioned events to provide adequate play opportunities using the Orange Ball and 60' court close to home.

TEAM EVENTS

  • 2 Team Events:
  • North | South in May
  • East | West in August
  • Team Events with only three Districts (North & West) may add another team of their choosing
  • Teams will consist of four boys and four girls
  • Format of play will be:
  • 1-day non-elimination round robin format
  • Singles - 4 boys & 4 girls singles playing best of 3 short sets to 4 w/ a 7pt. tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd
  • Doubles - 2 boys doubles & 2 girls doubles playing one short set to 4 w/ a 7pt. tiebreak at 4-4
  • Each district will provide a coach per team
  • Team coaches will be responsible for arranging doubles pairings. Doubles teams may change from match to match, giving players opportunities to play with several different partners.

INDIVIDUAL EVENTS

  • 2 Individual Events:
  • North | South in June
  • East | West in September
  • Selection is based on participation in Team Event; district endorsed players followed by alternate endorsed players
  • Players must play Team Event to completion in order to be eligible for individual events.
  • Format of play will be:
  • 1-day non-elimination compass draw played to completion
  • Scoring is best of three short sets to 4 with a 7pt. tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd
