Lone Star College-CyFair Center for the Arts Gallery

Art Gallery Mission Statement:

The Lone Star College-CyFair Gallery is a teaching gallery whose primary mission is to provide exhibitions which support and enrich college curriculum, events, and programs. The Gallery provides exhibition opportunities for our Visual Arts students, opportunities to view original artwork by fellow art students, our Visual Arts faculty and professional artists. It is not our goal to act as a retail outlet or commercial gallery though exhibited work may be made available for purchase. The Gallery is not available as a rental venue to private individuals or organizations. Group or individual exhibitions will be conducted as “Invitational” with the Gallery Committee acting as jurors for screening exhibition proposals on a space available basis. The committee may appoint a guest curator for specific exhibitions. The Gallery Committee is responsible for development or approval of the annual line-up of exhibitions. Priority is given to scheduled LSC-CyFair Visual Arts exhibitions. The Gallery Committee consists of the full time Art Faculty and the Gallery Coordinator of LSC-CyFair.

Gallery hours: Regular gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and closed during campus holidays and semester breaks. Extended hours can be arranged through the Gallery Coordinator on a case-by-case basis. Exhibiting artists or organizations are responsible for providing gallery sitters for extended gallery hours by covering the cost of gallery sitters or by providing volunteers to sit the gallery during extended hours.

Reception and publicity: Reception and publicity costs must be covered by applicants.

Insurance: LSC-CyFair carries insurance for exhibition materials. Exhibitors must provide current and accurate information on the valuation of artwork to be included in exhibitions.

Proposals: LSC-CyFair and community members may submit proposals to exhibit artwork in the gallery. Scheduling priority is given to LSC-CyFair Visual Arts exhibitions. Consideration will be given to specific date requests if the gallery schedule permits. All work must be original artwork or original reproductions such as limited edition engravings or lithographs of original artworks or new media duplications, no commercial reproductions or duplications will be accepted. Proposed exhibitions must support the stated mission of the gallery. Proposals for exhibitions should be submitted via email to Suzanne Shield-Polk, chair of the LSC-CyFair Gallery Committee at: and Chloe Stewart, Gallery Coordinator at: Chloe.H. . Proposals for the fall, spring and summer semesters must be submitted by March 30 of the proceeding spring semester.

For all gallery proposals, please include:

1.  Proposal: Please provide a title and description of your intended use of the gallery. Describe subject matter, concept, and/or media relating to the theme of the show. Note any related events on campus or in the community.

2.  Open and closing dates of anticipated exhibition, and reception (if one is planned).

3.  Name(s) of participant(s) with artist’s statements from each artist attached.

4.  Extended hours- If extended hours are requested, please specify days/dates and times and how you will assist in staffing these: cost or volunteer.

5.  A short description of the entire body of work to be included (example: watercolor landscapes, fibers installation, etc) and a description list of each piece intended for exhibition include: Artist, title, medium, date created, dimensions, and current market value of each work.

6.  Images of the artwork being submitted via 72 dpi jpg attachment, C/D, slides or video (1/2 inch VHS or DVD). If a web site is available please list the URL.
