We at, Brainerd High School, to meet the school’s goals we need your input in decision making throughout the school year. Please join us for the opportunities below:

Annual Meeting (Standard 1 Welcoming All Families) Date/ Time:August 28, 2017 / 4:30 – 7:00
Families are invited to attend the Annual Meeting (at Back to School Night) to learn about our school’s Title I programs and requirements. Families will have opportunities to review and provide feedback in the following areas:

School-Parent Compact (Standard 3 Supporting Student Success)
The School-Family Compact is a communication tool to support achievement for parents, school staff and students.
The Compact is an agreement on how each person (and the student) will support each other in ensuring that the student is successful. We have reviewed our Compact for all parents and students to receive during school registration.

Title I Parent Involvement Budget (Standard 5 Sharing Power)
As part of our school’s Title I program we receive a set amount of money each year to implement our Family Engagement Plan.
TheBrainerd High School Leadership Committee, which includes an educational assistant, parent, student, and a community member, met on August 22, 2017, at 2:30, at BHS to give input on how these dollars will be spent.
  • Direct mailings for student intervention, to prevent chronic absenteeism and failure to learn.
  • Provide refreshments for parents during family involvement activities and workshops.
  • Have materials on hand for engagement and input so that parents feel they are school stakeholders.

Communication (Standard 2 Communicating)
We will communicate* with all families through:
  • Notifying families of upcoming events through flyers, phone calls and school website
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Schoolwide Family Nights and Events
  • Parent and Community Meetings
  • Additional Communication Tools – School Messenger and Website
*All family documents will be translated into Spanish
  • The Family Engagement Planmust be jointly developed with parent(s) (not a HCDE employee) and a community member (does not have a child at the school); opportunities for parents to provide input must be documented and attached to your plan at the time of submission for the plan to be approved (copies also should be available in the Title I Documentation binder) (Sign-in Sheets, Agendas, Minutes)
