1) Troop Based Leadership Training; 2) Family Life Merit Badge; 3) Scout Sunday Mass; 4) Troop Leadership Meetings; 5) Ad Altare Dei Classes Starting; 6) Form Tracking Excel File Confusion; 7) Polar Bear Plunge;

1) March 20th from 1:00 until 4:00 is the next Troop based scout Leadership Training day. This training is required of any scout who wants to be the Senior Patrol Leader and highly recommended for any scout who wants to be a Patrol Leader. The training will start at 1:00 and end at 4:00. The monthly PLC will follow up after that at 4:00. Note that this is a change in time for the ILS Training.

2) Mr. Stuecker will put together a Family Life merit badge on Sunday, March 6th from 1:00PM – 4:00PM at the St. JPII Hike Lane campus. If you want to attend you should contact him or 502-550-9294.

3) March 6th, at 11:00 at the St. John Paul II Hikes Lane campus, we will celebrate Scout Sunday. We would love to have volunteers to fill these positions; lectors, ushers, greeters, choir members, gift bearers, and Eucharistic ministers. Everyone should wear clean and pressed Class A's. If you would like to fill one of these positions please contact Gwan Cox . As an aside, If you want to fill the position of organizing this next year, the opportunity is available. Also, If anyone has a complete list of our religious awards winners, please contact Gwan so she can make sure they are recognized at Mass.

4) The troop leadership meetings are coming up as usual starting on February 28th. The PLC currently scheduled to meet at 4:00 at the annex building room of the St. JPII Hikes Point Campus on Sunday February 28th could have a time or location change. I will let you know. The Scoutmasters will meet at 7:00 Monday February 29th with the committee meeting following that at 8:00 to 9:00 also in the annex to JPII Hikes Lane.

5) A Scout is reverent! Ad Altare Dei will be starting towards the end of March. It is open to all Catholic scouts who are currently in 6th grade or older. It is a great program to tie what you are already doing as a scout to your faith life. The first meeting will be an information/orientation session for interested scouts and parents.Please contact Paul Heitkemper at or 502-640-6079 for more information.

6) At least one family was a bit confused about the spreadsheet I send out with folks missing documentation so I want to clarify something. That spread sheet I send out only tracks what I do for the troop as the secretary, collect medical forms and training certificates that keep us in compliance with BSA regulations and insurance requirements. It has nothing to do with the financial status of a scout’s scout account. That can only be verified with Donna Bohn, our treasurer. This generated a very stressful moment or two prior to the Winter Freeze camp out and I really want to avoid it in the future.

7) Each year in support of the Special Olympics, silly people voluntarily jump into very cold river water then swim as quickly as possible to get out and get in a hot tub. While I am not that silly, Joe Lynch, one of our adult leaders, is. The silliness takes place March 5th starting around 10:00AM on the river next to what use to be Tumbleweed. If you want to support him financially, this link will take you there. If you want to support him in person come on out!
