The Plaza at querencia names patience buchanan, LMSW, director of social services

AUSTIN, texas, June 03, 2008: The Plaza at Querencia at Barton Creek has named Patience Buchanan, LMSW, as director of social services. The announcement was made by Ross Dickmann, executive director of Querencia.

Ms. Buchanan brings more than 15 years of diverse social service experience to her new position. After earning her master’s degree in social work at The University of Texas, Ms. Buchanan began her careerwith the Texas Department of Human Services and Texas Health and Human Services Commission. She has since worked with pregnant and parenting teens, brain injury patients, and seniors. Her role at The Plaza presents her first opportunity to work in a life care community.

As director of social services, Ms. Buchanan’s primary responsibility will be to assess and make recommendations regarding the psychosocial needs of Querencia residents.

“I am very excited to be a part of a life care community,” said Ms. Buchanan. “The most important aspect of social work is to build trusting relationships. I believe Querencia and the life care concept will allow me the ability to devote the time and presence necessary to build long-term, trusting relationships with residents and their families.”

Ms. Buchanan lives in Dripping Springs with her husband of 20 years, Darryll.
