Global Context – Identity

Key Concepts- Identity and Relationship

Statement of Inquiry- Students will explore the identity of authors and characters, investigate the development of identity in the Hero’s Journey, discover how moral reasoning and ethical judgment shape characters in The Odyssey and The Life of Pi, and search for evidence of moral reasoning in the decisions the characters make.

Use pages 1194-1198 & R102-R114 (red borders). Keep these definitions accessible in your notebooks. Don’t do other work on the same pages.

Project general guidelines
--This project is one of the major formal grades for this quarter. You will receive a separate handout, but below are the general directions
--Although this is a formal grade, because it is a project, with plenty of time to do it and very specific guidelines, there are only very limited opportunities for re-working parts of the assignment, so do your best work the first time.
--You will work with NO MORE than 2 other people (groups of 3 ONLY). You can pick your partners, but I must approve the groups—--We will spend time working on this project in class, but you are expected to work on it outside of class as well, using technology to communicate with your group members and assigning tasks that can be completed separately.
--Group grades are assigned using rubrics; you will evaluate your peers and they will evaluate you in a reflection.
--Your work must be original; it cannot be re-purposed work from yourself or someone else. Any information, music or images from other sources must be cited using MLA citation format.
--All required components must be on time in order to be eligible for an A. All group members must actively participate in the presentation of the project.
--there will be no food as part of the presentations
