The Assembly is held each year pursuant to theMoscowCity Government regulation №901-РПdated 29.05.2003.

Objectives:

The purpose of the Assembly is to raise the prestige of theMoscow city health service, to expand the scope for implementation of the innovative developments and medical technologies in the practice of the Moscow city health institutions, to establish new contacts and to strengthen the existing ties between the leading specialists from the CapitalCity and other cities.

Tasks:

To summarize experience accumulated in the health practice of the Capital City, to introduce new treatment and examination methods andnew technologies, to improve treatment efficiency in the Moscow hospitals,medical and preventive treatment facilities;

To provide support of the priority scientific developments for the city health service, to promote preventive course in the public health care;

To define activities for reducing the direct and indirect losses by cutting down morbidity and death rates, by improving the quality and extending the period of living;

To discuss activities to be completed with respect to the state guaranty of the free medical service for the public.

The Assembly features a number of comprehensive activities:

plenary sessions; scientific and practical conferences, seminars, trainings for therapists, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, nephrologists, urinologists, cardiologists, cardio surgeons, cardio rheumatologists, surgeons, psychiatrists and psychotherapists, narcologists, neurologists and neurosurgeons, traumatologists, orthopedists, combustiologists, pulmonologists, phthisiatriciansand allergists, oncologists, obstetrician-gynecologists, neonatologists, paediatrists, stomatologists and otherspecialists;topical conferences on the urgent issues of the health service, on the development of the Moscow pharmaceutical industry, on the issues of the mandatory medical insuranceand specialized medical assistance.

Exhibition:

The assembly features an exhibition «A new quality of medical services and drug supply for the Moscow citizens».Meet manufacturers and distributors of drugs, medical equipment, preventive and medicinal products, the Moscow health institutions, rehabilitation centers, cultural and sanitary institutions and companies, delivering services to the Moscow citizens, special literature, informational technologies.

Assembly 2005 outcome:

About 22 activities took place (plenary sessions, scientific and practical conferences, round tables) headed by the chiefs of the Moscow City Health Department, chief MHD specialists and scientists of the Moscow clinical and scientific centers. More than 160 reports have been made (versus41 in 2002, 98 in 2003 and122 in 2004).

The assembly has been attended by 2264 physicians and specialists, heads of the preventive and treatment facilities from Moscow and the Moscow region, scientists, clinisists, pharmacy specialists. The attendees can be distributed with respect to the areas of expertise as follows: general practice physicians and therapists – 17,1%; paediatrists(incl. specialty) – 9,5%; obstetrician and gynecologists– 8,1%; surgeons, traumatologists, anesthesiologists, emergency and first aid specialists -10,5%; cardiologists and cardio surgeons – 6,8%; psychiatrists, psycho neurologists, neurologists – 7,5%; endocrinologists – 2,2%; oncologists – 2,1%; phthisiatricians, pulmonologists, allergists– 3,6%; stomatologists – 3,1%; pharmacists– 4,2%; other medical specialists– 9,1%; men of science, pedagogues, students – 8,7%; heads of health care and medical insurance – 5,8%; other specialists– 1,8%.

We believe the number of attendees in 2006 will grow, since they take interest in the Fifth Moscow Assembly «Health of the Capital» and its issues right at this stage.
