JOB PURPOSE

Position: Marketing Manager

Accountability: Head of Business Development

Function: The main purpose of this role is to deliver our marketing function to proactively grow the business by increasing membership and product uptake, ensuring that the credit union achieves projected profitability without comprising our integrity.

This position is instrumental in marketing the credit union and ensuring that our brand is known to as wide an audience as possible in the Lothian’s and across the East Coast of Scotland. In particular the post holder will be working closely with the Head of Business Development to support relationships with our key sponsoring employers.

Major tasks/job activities

The post holder will be responsible, alongside the business development and member services teams, for the achievement of Key Performance Indicators which are:

·  Meeting loan targets on a monthly basis

·  New member targets

·  Raising awareness of Capital Credit Union products and brand

JOB DESCRIPTION

Marketing Planning and Implementation

·  Demand generation – develop the strategy and manage the marketing campaigns that drive demand for our products. Create and deliver direct marketing campaigns to new and existing members to bring new members into the credit union; and promote our key products (loans, savings, mortgages, current accounts, junior accounts and lottery)

·  Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates our products in the marketplace and within our existing membership base

·  Become adept with working with a range of suppliers to find the cheapest option available for any given element of a project, without sacrificing quality

·  Draft design briefs and work with designers to produce a range of on-brand materials including posters, postcards, leaflets and other promotional materials as required

·  Produce effective direct mail and email pieces, and organise campaigns to relevant databases

·  Maintain the shopfront to best marketing advantage

·  Source opportunities and bring creative strategic ideas to the table

·  Work with the team to develop new products and packages for specific market segments

·  Work with internal staff to promote Credit Union’s products and services

·  Contributing to the development, and maintain a sales pipeline for prospects

Copywriting and Content Management

·  Be responsible for all written communications including letters to members regarding loans, savings and mortgages

·  Book, brief and ensure timely submission of adverts as necessary

·  Produce regular e-newsletters

Web and Social Media Management

·  Maintain and contribute to the development of the company website and the accompanying systems and processes, including responsibility for analytics monitoring

·  Manage Facebook page, keeping it fresh and engaging

·  Contribute to the development and provide day to day management of additional social media channels

Public Relations and Media

·  Write and issue press releases and information

·  Organise launch events as required

·  Develop ongoing relationship with the media

·  Monitor and report on coverage

Research and Insights

·  Monitor and analyse marketing response rates to report on the effectiveness of campaigns and activities, and respond to results in the form of written reports and recommendations

·  Develop innovative methods of researching new audiences

·  Provide day to day management of all digital data gathering and analysis including Google Analytics

The post holder will be expected to work on their own initiative and expected to deal with day-to-day challenges as they arise. The role will be office based in Edinburgh but with occasional travel, attending external events as necessary to promote our brand and the benefits of credit union membership.

Essential

·  5+ years of marketing related experience

·  Ideally educated to degree level with a Marketing Degree or equivalent work experience

·  Excellent working knowledge of social media marketing

·  Strong organisational ability and attention to detail, with the ability to self-manage busy workflow to ensure business goals are met

·  Excellent communication skills, able to write content for a range of audiences and sources

·  Motivated to produce high-quality, on-brand visual material in accordance with our corporate identity

·  Adept with Excel

·  Results driven and analytical

·  Creative, ready with new ideas, enjoys a challenge

·  Confident with promoting Capital Credit Union to members of the public

·  A good team player, comfortable with responsibility

·  Full, clean driving license

·  Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable

Knowledge of:

·  Adobe Creative Suite

·  Campaign Monitor (or similar email marketing service)

·  Experience of in working within a sales driven environment would also be advantageous.

·  Experience within the financial services/credit union sector is advantageous

Experience required

This position would be ideal for a qualified marketing professional with sales experience, who can hit the ground running. Planning ahead is key to this role and therefore must have ability to plan and implement key initiatives and be able to demonstrate this from a previous role or experience. Ability to work on own initiative and be focused on delivering achievable targets.

Hours of Work and Benefits

Capital offers 32 days annual leave and a contributory pension scheme - after six months. The normal working hours are 36.25 hours per week. Evening and weekend work may be occasionally required and attendance at local and national conferences may also expected.

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience

General Conditions of Service

The conditions of service applicable to the above post are those set out in the Contract of Employment and written statement of main terms and conditions of service as issued by the Credit Union.

1. Salary Scale Marketing Manager – circa £30,000

2. Starting Salary Placing depends on age, qualifications and experience.

3. Sick Pay During the first 6 month’s probationary period there is no entitlement to paid sick leave, thereafter entitlement is 2 weeks at full allowance and 2 weeks at half allowance up to 10 weeks full pay and 10 weeks half pay.

4. Holiday Entitlement Annual holiday entitlement is 22 days with 10 public/statutory holidays.

5. Hours of Work A modified scheme of flexible working hours is in operation subject to the exigencies of the service. The normal working week for full time staff is 36.25 hours over 5 days.
