Course:This is an honors course which means that students will be required to complete the regular Algebra I curriculum as well as some additional requirements including a writing component. Topics we will look at this year include, but are not limited to, linear and quadratic equations and functions, graphing, inequalities, ratios & proportions, etc. This course has an end of year course test that is state mandated and will be in May.

Class Fee: A class fee of $5 is requested of all students taking math.

Homework: No late homework is accepted. See Agenda mate for school policy.

Tardies: Students that are late to class must sign the tardy sheet at the door before sitting at their desk. Two tardies will result in a phone call to your parents and the third tardy will result in an office referral.

Absences: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and to make it up per the school policy in your agenda mate. If you do not turn in the work, you will receive a zero for the work. Please remember that more than 3 unexcused absences results in automatic failure for the quarter.

Policies and Procedures for Mrs. Stalans’ Algebra Classes

  • All school policies as listed in your Agenda Mate will be followed.
  • All written homework and class work should be done in pencil. Please follow any directions on how an assignment is to be done, such as typing a writing assignment. Failing to follow directions will result in 10 points off the assignment grade.
  • The overriding expectation in the class is RESPECT. If you follow this mantra, we’ll be cool.
  • You will be counted tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings.
  • Trash left in my room will create a job for you after school. Please take care of your stuff.
  • Do not leave the classroom until you are dismissed by the teacher. I will dismiss you. Please be courteous enough to allow me to finish any sentence or assignment.
  • If you must leave class, get permission from the teacher first. I will honor reasonable requests for a HALL PASS INYOUR AGENDA MATE ONLY, but will revoke that privilege for students who leave the room without permission or who abuse the privilege.
  • You may have bottled water in my classroom. Nothing else is allowed per Mrs. Smith.
  • Please remember there is only one of me. If I am speaking with another student, be respectful and wait until we’re finished before speaking. (Of course if you’re about to be sick – RUN RUN RUN – We all know the universal symbol for this!!!!)
  • Please pay attention as to where you turn items in to me. Turn finished work into the basket assigned to your class, if not it will NEVER be graded
